Who are we

“Little Big Spoon” is an ice cream shop located in Amsterdam, Netherlands. We’re a gay couple who are from America, we are about to have a family in Amsterdam and we’re planning on having a baby. We just wish there was a colorful and gay-friendly ice cream shop that attracts family and tourists.

Tourists, queer friendly, colorful, affordable, relax, family friendly, aesthetically pleasing, romantic, diverse.

By Targeting tourists and queers, this Ice cream shop was designed to be relaxing and colorful. We want this place to be a place where people can have a coffee date, where people can bring their family and kids.

Brand Mark

The Little Big Spoon brandmark is a combination of both a hand-drew logo and a hand-written typeface. The Little Big Spoon brandmark is made of three sections, these three sections are the spoon, the text “Little Spoon” and the “Big”. By reading from left to right and top to bottom, it becomes “Little Big Spoon,” the direction of the spoon is also leading viewers to seethe word “Little” first and then the word “Big”. The phrase“little spoon and big spoon” is common in the LGBTQ community, it has a sexual meaning but it also represents the love, care, and comfort between two people. Moreover, the word “Big” is inside the round part of the spoon, it sends the message as “a big spoon of ice cream.” The three sections also become representative of the three founding values of Little Big Spoon as an ice cream store: Family Friendly, LGBTQ Friendly, Relax. The hand-drew logo gives a sense of comforting and calming, the hand-written typeface gives a sense of friendliness and youth.

PrimaryColor Palette

The Little Big Spoon’s primary color palette is built around the colors from the ice cream and the colors from a rainbow. The pastel colors represent the relaxing and calming vibes of the store. The first two colors from the top are rounded out with a purple and a red, red is the color traditionally associated with energy and love. purple in the modern world is not just associated with mysteries, it also represents gay clubs. The three colors on the bottom are also the colors that will be used across the whole brand systems, but they wouldn’t appear on a colored logo with a white background, blue represents purity and youth, orange represents not just enthusiasm but also comfort, green represents nature and that’s also what the store uses as materials which are natural products. Always have at least one of the two primary colors on each type of deliverables.

When they’re being used as background colors, we suggest lowering the opacity of the colors.

Brand Mark &Color Usages

These white logos with the colored word “Big” should only be used with colored backgrounds, and the color on “Big” should match the back-ground color. However, if the color background on the deliverable is not one of the colors from the color palette, consider using the logo that is closest to the background color, such as back-ground-yellow, the logo should be the green one. (See rule 7-10 on the “DO NOT” page)

Secondary Color Palette

The Little Big Spoon secondary color palette are the colors that would go with the illustration, they would be the background color for the illustration, we suggest to pick the color in this order that matches the order of the illustrations in the next page, and we suggest to use the colors that are being shown here. (It’s ok to lower the opacity of the colors to no less than 20%)

Placement

The word “Spoon” is the same width as the round part of the spoon, the word “Big” is not exactly centered, but the letter “g” should always lined up with “o” from the spoon, and the letter “B” should always lined up with the bottom part of the “p”. The distance between the letter “e” from the word “Little” and the “S” from the word “Spoon” is the same distance between the baseline of the word “Little” and the word “Big”.

1. Do not use the All Cap letter. 2. On the colored logo, do not use any colors other than purple for the “Little and Spoon” and white for the “Big.”3. BrandTypography

This family of fonts is a collection of many fonts in playful and hand-written styles, that are all readable and visually comforting. They help give a sense of playfulness and friendliness to the visual identity. The Little Big Spoon brand family uses three font families, they are called Banthink, Providence San Pro, and Buka Bird. Banthink is a very playful font but there’s also a sense of maturity, it’s mostly used for medium to large size headlines and titles. Providence San Pro is a hand-written font that gives a sense of friendliness, it’s mostly used for small to medium size body text and headlines. Buka Bird is the most dramatic font of the brand, it’s mostly used for Big size titles only.
