Sense and Sensibility

I'm reading a book, which is Sense and Sensibility.The book is about a girl thatmust leave their family home and the beautiful Norland Park. When her father

died, she and her mother, Mrs Dashwood, and her sisters, Elinor and Margaret,must move to a small cottage in Devon. The girl falls in love with the handsome

John Willoughby and her sister Elinor misses Edward Ferrars, the man she had to leave behind. Jane Austen wrote the book. Macmillan published this book. The

book has 118 pages, it was printed in Thailand in 2009. I chose this book because I think the book’s cover is very nice, and the book is cool because it has an

interesting story.

Mr Dashwood was an old man and had never married and had children. He lived alone on Norland Park. One Day, He invited his nephew and his family to live with him. Henry Dashwood was  man’s nephew. Henry had married twice. Her first wife had died several years after their son, John was Born. He married again and had three daughters – Elinor, Marianne and Margaret. Henry and his family lived happily with Mr Dashwood for many years at Norland Park.Mr Dashwood died, but he had changed the words of his Will. And Harry would inherit everything. A year after Mr. Dashwood’s death, Henry became very ill. He talked with his son and Said that he must look after his sisters and his stepmother.  After Henry’s death, Fanny and her son arrived at the Norland Park.

Summary

Fanny had two brothers, their names were Edward and Robert Ferrars. Elinor and Edward were always together. Mrs Dashwood was sure that they were

falling in Love.  Fanny belived that Elinor was not good enough for her brotherMrs Dashwood and her daughters moved to Devon, and Elinor missed Edward. They were going to live simply, in a much small house. When they arrived, Sir

John invited them to dinner at Barton Park.

One Day Marrianne and Margaret decided to take a walk. But then, started to rain a lot, and they ran as fast as they could. Marrianne was slipped on the wet Grass and felt to the ground, she had hurt her ankle and she could not move.

Margaret ran too fast and she could not stop.                A Young man came over the Hill and lifted Marrianne in his arms and

carried her down the Hill. The young man was very handsome and his name was Willoughby.Marriane was in love with him.

Willoughby himself was delighted by the Dashwoods and everyone soon noticed that he admired Marianne Dashwood. They spent much time

together. But Colonel Brandon was unhappy, because he liked Marianne, and she

was all the time with Willoughby.Everybody was thinking that

Willoughby loved Marianne and he will marry her. Willoughby said to

Marianne that he had to go to London, and Marianne was very sad. She cried

and was waiting the letters of Willoughby.

One day, when Marianne and her sisters were walking they saw a young man, Marianne thought that was Willoughby, but was Edward Ferrars. Edward went to the

Dashwood’s house and stayed with Mrs Dashwood and her daughter. Marianne saw that Edward was using a new ring with a lock of hair.

Sir John and Lady Middleton went to the house of Dashwood with new guests. They met the young daughter of Lady Middleton, Charlotte Palmer and her husband.

Next day the Palmers left Barton Park, but the Middleton had other visitors.-The Miss Steeles.The Middletons liked the sisters.

Elinor met Anne and Lucy, and she thought that they were vulgar and stupid; Lucy very much wanted to be Elinor’s friend. One day, Lucy and Elinor were

talking when Lucy said that Edward Ferrars was engaged with her. It was a secretly engaged for four years. Elinor was very upset because she trusted

in Edward and she believed that he loved her.  Mrs Jennings decided to invite Elinor and Marianne to her house on London.

The sisters decided to accept the invitation of Mrs Jennings.

Lady Middleton and the Dashwood were invited to a big party. At the party, Elinor saw Willoughby and he was talking with a pretty and young woman. Marianne

discovered that Willoughby was engaged with another woman, and she was very disappointed.

 Colonel said to Elinor that Willoughby was dishonest and told her about his story.

John Dashwood came to Berkeley Street. He asked Elinor to introduce him to the Middletons. Then, Mr and Mrs Dashood decided to give a dinner party at which the Middeltons would be the most important guests. Fanny Dashwood really liked Anne and Lucy. Anne said to Fanny that Edward and Lucy were engaged. Fanny was very

angry with this. She wanted that Edward marry a rich woman.Then Lucy wrote a letter to Elinor, She was asking help from Elinor. Colonel Brandon

decided to help Edward and Lucy.

The Palmers, Mrs Jennings, the Miss Daswoods and The Colonel Brandon left London for Cleveland. 

Marianne was very sick,she had a high fever. The days passed and she was very ill.One evening when Marianne was sleeping, Elinor heard a noise and was Willoughby, he

apologized  for being rude to Marianne, and he said that he really loved her and the days that he passed with Marianne were the best of his life . He didn’t love his

wife,he married Miss Sofia Grey because she was rich.  Elinor felt very sorry for him. Marianne got better and stronger every day.

One day, Edward Ferrars came to visit The Daswoods, and he said that his brother, Robert Ferrars married Lucy. Elinor began to cry of happiness.

Edward said to Elinor that he loved her, and he wanted to marry her, she accepted, and they were very happy together. Edward decided to go to

London and speak to his mother. Edward and Elinor were married at Barton Cottage and they travelled to

Delaford in Dorset.

Marianne’s feelings have changed about Colonel Brandon and she really loved him, and she agreed to become his wife. They got married in the church at

Delaford where Edward was the curate.Mrs Daswood lived at Barton Cottage with Margaret.

4. Bowed- [verb] - bend your head and the top part of your body towards someone when you meet them. Bowing was the polite way that men greeted someone in the nineteenth century.

Example (book) -‘’But her eldest daughter, Elinor persuaded her to stay.’’My example -If she doesn't want to go, nothing you can say will persuade her.10. Fainted - [verb] - suddenly fall to the ground because you are ill or have had a

shock. Someone who faints cannot see or hear for a short time.Example (book) -‘’Lucy nearly fainted and Anne wept loudly…’’.My example-The girl was very sick and she fainted, then she fell to the ground.
