Literacy Texas Hires a New Executive Director Literacy Texas is pleased to announce the appointment of Jennifer Edwards as Executive Director. Literacy Texas is the statewide literacy coalition for Texas, connecting and equipping literacy programs through resources, training, networking, and advocacy. Jennifer has a true, lifelong passion for reading and understands the importance literacy holds for all Texans. She writes that reading is one of her greatest joys, and quotes Thomas Jefferson who said, “I cannot live without books.” Jennifer has over 15 years of extensive nonprofit leadership with an emphasis on strategic planning, program evaluation, governance, operational innovation, and fundraising. Jennifer has held past leadership roles with nonprofit organizations working on global health and poverty issues, as well as leading Texas nonprofits focused on community collaborations. In her job as Executive Director of Literacy Texas, Jennifer will use her skills in motivational leadership to lead our organization through times of challenge and growth, and increase collaboration with the literacy programs in Texas.
