Remember we will mark your trench diaries not only for historical content, but also for your use of literacy!
Before handing it in - or writing it up in neat – check your draft by yourself or with a partner, working against the checklist below. I highly recommend you get a parent or friend to proofread it for you!
Check that you have done all of the following things correctly and tick them off once you have checked.
Have you checked you have included: Tick here!Perfect spelling! – especially of key wordsFull stops at end of sentencesQuestion marks at end of questionsExclamation marks to add intensitySpeech marks before and after words actually spokenYou have begun speech with a capital letterCapital letters: At the beginning of sentences Names of places and people Days and monthsSome interesting vocabularySimiles or metaphorsYou have used different words to begin sentencesSynonyms for ‘said’ (‘whispered’, ‘mumbled’ etc)Used connectives in the middle of sentences (‘so’, ‘however’ etc)
