"The care being provided isinadequate."
HOW HAS COVID-19 IMPACTED CARE?

"I've had two moms pass away during COVID, and it just really hurts me, becausethey're going into the hospital, complaining about their issues. And I understandthat COVID is first and foremost to some of these hospitals, but these moms aregetting sent away and passing away at home or coming in to have a baby andpassing away at the hospital because they weren't given the proper help that theyneeded."

WHAT DO YOU THINK ABOUT TELEHEALTH?
P A G E 1 6
"...we had a mother postpartum who was sort of postponing the care forwhatever reason, she's, she has a lot of kids at home and we were doing a lot ofvirtual stuff. And by the time I went over there, her baby was veryjaundice...even if we have had funding for excellent telehealth technology, thatdoesn't mean that they have excellent technology or cameras for us to see howyellow is this baby, or how you know, if a mother's bleeding that can usually beseen… or even looking at a mother and how pale are her eyelids or her lips, youknow, is she blanching out from some other condition that's going on. So that'smy concern with it. I want to make sure we're not missing really importantdetails"

"I can't even imagine, like ...beforewe were able to reach as manypeople and obviously like zoom andstuff during a pandemic like this, Ijust feel like so many morepregnant and postpartum womenwould just suffer because therewouldn't be any other way to seethem, you know? So at least now it'slike, yeah, this isn't ideal, but atleast it's better than nothing. "

"Is telehealth the way to care for themost vulnerable among us - ourbabies and our elders? Our eldersand our babies, our most vulnerablepopulations in our communities andour most valued populations in ourcommunities, a lot of the times itcould be harder for them to get thecare they need if telehealth is theonly option, right?"
