Nevada Chapter – Michael Koizumi APWA Scholarship

Every year the Nevada Chapter of the American Public Works Association (APWA) awards scholarships to deserving students from Nevada. The scholarship amounts are one for $1,000 and one for $2,000. Northern Nevada scholarships will be awarded at the APWA Fall Conference held in September 2012. In order for the Board, through the Scholarship Committee, to make the best selection of scholarship recipients, we are encouraging APWA members to nominate potential candidates; however, APWA board member nominations are not required

Society of American Military Engineers (SAME) College Scholarship Program

The Sacramento Post of the Society of American Military Engineers (SAME) awards scholarships annually to high school and college students who are studying engineering or related technical disciplines. Scholarships will vary from $1,000 to $4,000 for students in high school, junior college, and college students that are pursuing a degree in any engineering field or related technical sciences (including architecture, mathematics, physics, chemistry, geology, and earth sciences). American Society of Mechanical Engineers

ASME Auxiliary FIRST Clarke Scholarships are awarded to seniors in high school who are active on a FIRST FTC or FIRST FRC team. A member of the ASME must nominate applicants. The program awards ten $5,000 scholarships per year and is intended for a recipient’s first year of study in mechanical engineering or mechanical engineering technology. Y.C. Yang Civil Engineering Scholarship is awarded to juniors or seniors in a civil engineering program at an ABET-accredited institution. Applicants must be members of the ASCE Society and include a personal statement of why the award should be offered to the applicant, and a comprehensive financial plan, and at least two letters of recommendation. The deadline is February 9.

The American Welding Society Arsham Amirikian Engineering Scholarship

Offered to students planning on pursuing a career in applying welding in the civil and structural engineering field. Students must be pursuing at least a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or welding related field. Memorial Scholarship It is awarded to students in at least their second year of an electrical engineering program. The program is competitive and applicants must be active members of a Navy ROTC unit, have a GPA of 3.0 or higher, have demonstrated commitment and academic excellence, and showed potential to service as office in the U.S. Navy. The program awards one $3,000 scholarship every year. The deadline for this scholarship is February 15.

The American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics Foundation Undergraduate Scholarship

Students pursuing education programs related to aerospace engineering and science. Applicants must be AIAA members, enrolled full-time, and completed a minimum of one academic term on a full-time basis. The minimum GPA is 3.3. Scholarship Program is offered by the National Security Agency to high school seniors planning to major in computer science or computer/electrical engineering.

Nursing Education Scholarship

This $1,000 scholarship will be awarded to one recipient annually. This scholarship is open to any person 17 years of age or older who is currently accepted or attending full time a medicine related program at an accredited institution of learning. Minimum 3.0 GPA. Applicant shall submit an essay prior to January 10 of at least 500 words but no more than 1000 words that explain what they hope to accomplish in the medical field and how they will impact the lives of others with the education and knowledge they acquire while in medical training. Essay will also include the student’s opinion of why they feel they should be selected to receive the scholarship funds.

The Parker Waichman Scholarship

The Parker Waichman law firm is sponsoring an essay contest on the topic of "How would you change a current US law to improve society?" The winner of the contest will be awarded $1,000 to use towards tuition. To enter, simply write a 300-500 word essay explaining an existing law - federal, state or local - and demonstrate examples of how changing the law would enhance rights.

U.S. Army Center of Military History Dissertation Fellowships

To support scholarly research and writing among qualified civilian graduate students preparing dissertations in the history of warfare, the Center offers three Dissertation Fellowships each year. One, funded by the National Museum of the U.S. Army, is designed to support dissertations that explore the material culture of the Army; the two others support research in the more general areas of military history in all its many aspects. In your application please specify if you wish to compete for the two general fellowships or for the Museums fellowship. These fellowships carry a $10,000 stipend and access to the Center's facilities and technical expertise. Application information is available on the website and applications must be postmarked by January 15.

The Howard Brown Rickard Scholarship

Available for students who are legally blind in both eyes and currently enrolled or planning to enroll in a full-time program in engineering, law, medicine, natural sciences, or architecture. The scholarship is offered by the National Federation for the Blind. Applicants must participate in the complete NFB national convention and in all scholarship program activities. The federation awards 30 scholarships a year and individuals must apply by March 31.
