Direct Democracy •  Voters express their opinions by continuously voting on

issues. •  Advantages: offers citizens full control, accountability and

equality. •  Issues: don’t scale, becomes impractical for voters to be

informed about all issues (no time, desire or expertise)

Representative Democracy •  Involves handing over one’s voting right to representatives

who act on one’s behalf for making decisions. •  Advantages: scale well. •  Issues:

•  Restricted set of candidates. •  Election cycles (4 years) •  Corruption (power++).

Liquid Democracy

Concept

•  A member can give their vote to another member for all issues, for a particular policy area, or for a particular decision only for any length of time.

•  That vote can be rescinded at any time.

•  Every person within a Liquid Democracy platform is a potential politician.

Issues

•  Real law vs. for reference

•  Disclose identity vs. anonymity (vs. hybrid) •  Super-voters**

Liquid Democracy is a fast, decentralized, collaborative question-answering system, which works by enabling chained answer recommendation*. It occupies the middle ground somewhere between direct and representative democracy, and is designed to ensure that the things we all hold in common stay properly maintained (by small, stealthy, distributed teams of anarchist kung-fu badasses, if need be), even in the face of radical technological change.
