Although strep throat can occur anytime of the year, it is not unusual to see increases of strep
during the winter and spring seasons. A child diagnosed with strep throat needs to be on antibi-
otics for at least 24 hours before returning to school and also fever free. Most antibiotics can be
given at home, however if antibiotics need to be given at school be sure to follow DoDDS medica-
tion policy .

Did You Know? The actual color of St. Patrick is Blue. Green became associ-
ated with St. Patrick’s Day during the 19th century. Green ,
in Irish legends, was worn by fairies and immortals, and al-
so by people to encourage their crops to grow.

TerraNova Testing
March 11th-15th
Grades 3-8 Students in grades 3-8 will participate in system-wide standardized test-
ing, TerraNova. Students will be tested in the areas of Reading, Language
Arts, Mathematics, Social Studies, and Science. The TerraNova is de-
signed to measure concepts, processes, and skills taught in elementary
and secondary schools. Test results will be sent home with students by the end of the school year. An
explanation of the test scores will accompany these results.
Our students have been preparing all year long through excellent instruction for the TerraNova. Tak-
ing a test, such as the TerraNova, can be stressful for students of all ages. Our 3rd graders will be taking
the test for the first time. Please support our children by adhering to the suggestions below.
Help your child by making sure he/she receives adequate sleep each night and a nutritious breakfast each
morning.
Arrive to school ON-TIME (8:10)! Late students cannot enter the testing session once it has started. They
will be sent to a separate classroom until break.
Please do not schedule appointments during testing times so that your child may be present for all testing
periods.
Motivate and express confidence in your child's abilities. All conversations about testing should be brief
and positive.
Practice tests will be conducted the week prior to actual testing in order to familiarize students with the
process of test taking for TerraNova. If you have any other questions about TerraNova, contact your
child's teacher, the school counselor/testing coordinator, Mark Grebener at 06371-92-6504 x3059 or
