NATIONAL 4‐H WEEK October 7‐13 Celebrate 4‐H! Do something special — Decorate a storefront window, hang a JOIN 4‐H poster at a local business or in your window, wear your 4‐H T‐shirt, invite your friends to a mee ng and to join 4‐H. Be crea ve! Take pictures and be sure to post them on our Facebook page!
IT’S TIME TO RE‐ENROLL IN 4‐H! Enrollment will be handled on the 4‐H Online website — h ps://ia.4honline.com/ again this year. Enter your e‐mail address and use the same password you used last year. If you can’t remember your password, select “I forgot my password”. A temporary password will be e‐mailed to you. Once you are logged in, you will be able to re‐enroll your family for the 2012‐2013 4‐H year. If you have trouble, please visit h p://www.extension.iastate.edu/4h/Enrollment/help.htm or call the E.O. at 377‐9839. Senior Member Awards & $cholar‐ ship Applica on Work Day On January 12, the Linn County E. O. will be hos ng at Center Point‐Urbana High School the third Senior Awards and $cholarship applica on work day. You will use this me to tweak your scholarship applica ons and applica‐ons for 4‐H project awards, State 4‐H
Youth Council, Tech Team, Na onal Congress and Na onal Conference. There will also be a prac ce interview session and laptops available to work on your applica ons Please RSVP by calling the E.O. or e‐mailing [email protected] Open to all 9th‐12th grade 4-H’ers.
2014 Ci zenship Washington Focus Ci zenship Washington Focus (CWF) is a ten‐day trip for 4‐H youth in 10th ‐12th grades. The trip provides a se ng to experience leadership and ci zenship in a different way at the Na onal 4‐H Center. Par cipants may select either June 7‐15 or June 14‐22 to a end. 4‐Hers and adult chap‐erones will travel by chartered bus to Washington, D.C. Some of the high‐lights of the trip will be: Lincoln’s Springfield, Ge ysburg Ba lefield, Capitol Hill, Smithsonian Museums, Mount Vernon and Kennedy Center. In addi on to tours and workshops there will be me for socializing and mee ng new friends. Cost of the trip is $1,420 that includes lodging, trans‐porta on, tour site admissions and most meals. Registra on and a $350.00 deposit will be required to secure a spot. Registra on opens October 1, 2012 and closes December 15, 2012. Record Book Reading Times The E.O. conference room will be open on the following dates for volunteers to read 4‐H record books. DATE TIME Saturday, October 6 9:00 AM‐Noon Wednesday, October 10 5:30‐8:30 PM Saturday, October 13 9:00 AM‐Noon Thursday, October 18 5:30‐8:30 PM Please plan to help your commi ee review these project records. There will be a Records/Awards Commi ee member present at these mes to help answer any ques ons. All books must be completed by October 18th.

New Volunteer Training Registra on Now Open for Leaders and Assis‐ tants Mul ‐region new Volunteer Training is designed for new 4‐H volunteers commi ng to a long term experi‐ence working with 4‐H youth as club, project, Clover Kid leaders. Volun‐teers commi ng to these roles are required to a end this training with‐in the first 12 months of being screened and approved as a 4‐H vol‐unteer. The 6‐hour training is de‐signed to give new volunteers a be er working knowledge of posi ve youth development, the Iowa 4‐H Equa on. There will also be tools that will help them gain more confi‐dence in their roles working with youth. The training includes break‐out sessions for Clover Kid and club volunteers.
