Driving Force Training Ltd introduce the first curriculum based BTEC in Driver & Road Safety Education
Currently based at Nailsea School in North Somerset but soon to be rolled out to other schools across the South West
The Course Combines 40hrs in class with 30hrs in car on a 2:1 basis
The course is based on the four levels of the European Goals for Driver Education (GDE) Matrix and leads to a level 2 BTEC
The in-class elements deal with everything from vehicle construction and maintenance to the pupils reasons for making journeys and their fundamental beliefs about driving
There are a wide mix of practical and theoretical activities and regular assessment of all elements ensures the new knowledge is retained
The Course has received widespread support from a wide range of sources, including actor Dave Prowse (Former Green Cross Code Man), who officially launched the BTEC, charities such as Road Peace and Avon & Somerset Police, who have provided resources for use by participating pupils

Driving Force Training Ltd are constantly developing and refining the BTEC and are in talks with Edexcel aimed at making the qualification nationally available
