    2 Read the newspaper article.

Last weekend was special for Sally Jones. Sally was in the Notting Hill Carnival in London. Its the biggest street festival in Europe. There was a music competition on Saturday. Sunday was Childrens Day with prizes for children with the best fancy dress costumes.

Monday was the big street parade with lots of people dancing and playing music. It was Sallys big day. Sally is twelve and she lives in London. This was her first time in the big parade. A million people came from all round the world. They came to watch Sally and the other dancers. It was hot and sunny. The costumes were amazing.

The day started early, said Sally. I got up at seven oclock. I painted my face and put on my costume. Its orange and yellow. My mum made it. Then I met my friends from my carnival club and we went to the parade together. We danced round the streets for hours. It was fantastic. I went home at half past eight. It was a long day but it was the best day of my life. I want to go again next year.
