    Attachment D Outline Guide

Your paper grade will be graded as indicated below. Make sure you take time on each of thesecomponents below. Use this guide as a checklist to help you write the final, formal paper.

Analysis Paper: Total worth /36 pts (4 pts) Formality (no errors and nicely organized) (4 pts) Index Parts (4 pts) Proposal (2 pts) Criteria of Study

Body of Evidence (2 pts) Trend and link to equation model (3 pts) Scatter plot with best fit line included and referenced in paper (2 pts) Percent change calculation (2 pts) Prediction based off of model (2 pts) Other facts concerning your prediction (2 pts) Analysis of Outliers (4 pts) Conclusions/ Predictions (4 pts) Analysis of Project/ Problems you had and what you learned (4 pts) Works CitedProposal: This is your opening to your paper. Within this paragraph or two, the reader gains an

understanding about what the whole paper will be about. A thesis statement will be made here stating

    your trend and your prediction.

Criteria of Study: This is the conditions or variables you analyzed in order to show a trend. Write down

these conditions and why they were appropriate and relevant pieces of evidence for your prediction.

    Project Schedule

Day 1: Transition from Cell Phone Linear Project to Best Fit lines on Scatter Plots. Another application of linear equations-best fit lines. Presentation and Notes on scatter plots, best fit line, and trends. Homework: book assignment & come up with

    various trends in society/nature

Day 2: Compile and brainstorm different trends people can think of. Hand out information and walk through research of

trend project. Students pick topics based off of homework.

    Day 3: Begin Research

    Day 4: Research day 2

    Day 5: Research day 3

Day 6: Outline writing time (there is a an outline handout to fill out)

    Day 7: Paper writing time

    Day 8: Paper writing time

Day 9 Paper and research process due- Start review over Linear Equation Unit

Ideas for trends that may come up in brainstorm
