accordance with the mandate of her founder, Jesus Christ, Christians not onl! are to

provide the support of their pra!ers and material resources to missionaries, namel!

contribute to spreading the 0ingdom of God in the world, each according to his

proper vocations and means. his task has a particular urgenc! in the present phase

of the approaching s!nodal assembl! will be to e/amine the present situation in the

particular Churches and to trace, in communion with the )ol! Father, $ope9enedict

means for transmitting the Good News to people in our world toda! with a renewed

enthusiasm proper to the saints, who were Bo!ous witnesses of the #ord Jesus

out a challenge much like the scribe who became the disciple of the heavenl!

kingdom, was able to bring forth things new and old from the precious treasur! of

the ?nion of *uperiors General, with whom the General *ecretariat of the *!nod of

9ishops maintains official contacts. hese bodies are to encourage discussion on this

document in their respective areas of competence& dioceses, pastoral areas of

Burisdiction, parishes, congregations, associations, movements, etc. he episcopal

conferences, s!nods of bishops and the previousl! mentioned bodies will then

summari"e the observations and submit a report to the General *ecretariat no later
