What is GPS?What is GPS?

The Georgia Performance Standard (GPS) go into

much greater depth than the content standards

used in the previous curriculum. The performance

standard incorporates the content standard, which

simply tells the teacher what a student is expected

to know (i.e., what concepts he or she is expected

to master), and expands upon it by providing three

additional items: suggested tasks, sample student

work, and teacher commentary on that work.

ALGEBRA STRAND

What is QCC?What is QCC?

Georgia’s Quality Core Curriculum (QCC) is

a set of standards, guidelines, and

expectations for Georgia educators. The

QCC is under constant revision (as a result

of the Quality Basic Education Act) and

includes teacher involvement in the

standards-building process.

• Must pass 4 out of 6 classes for academic promotion. The average course grade will be calculated for passing (70% or higher). Additionally, consideration for passing ¾ terms is discussed for promotion.

• The 7th/8th Grade School does not engage in social promotion (passing a student due to age, height, etc…)!!!

OTHER POINTS ABOUT THE CRCTOTHER POINTS ABOUT THE CRCT• Students with limited English proficiency who are

enrolling in a U.S. school for the first time may receive a one-year deferment from assessments in content areas other than mathematics and science.

• The IEP determines if regular state testing is appropriate for students with disabilities, even with accommodations. Some students may participate in the Georgia Alternative Assessment (GAA).
