Overview of the history of the company:

Forty four years ago, Limcoma was born as a small Cooperative to serve the needs of the emerging small farmers in Lipa City and in San Jose, Batangas. Back when the economy was overwhelmed with trade problems, the agricultural sector that included the devastated industries of coffee, coconut, lanzones and the citrus industry due to infestation was falling, became the reason for the agricultural people of Lipa to seek alternative sources of living. They shifted to livestock business such as poultry, hogs and cattle raising.

It was Engr. Claro R. Malleta who headed the group of farmers and traders, mostly families from Lipa and San Jose, Batangas that included the Robles, Angeles, Mendoza and others, in conducting a General Assembly at the Fernando Air Base, Lipa City where they finally organized LIMCOMA (Lipa City Multi-purpose Cooperative Marketing Association, Inc.). Three months thereafter, on July 6, 1970, it was registered at the Securities and Exchange Commision with paid up capital provided by the 77 original incorporators.

On April 13, 1977, it had a new name Limcoma Marketing Cooperative, Inc. that was registered at the Bureau of Cooperatives Development (BCOD) and subsequently confirmed by the new Cooperative Development Authority (CDA) on March 1, 1991. From April 20, 1992 to date, its name has been officially and popularly known as Limcoma Mulit-Purpose

Cooperative.

As early as 1983, Limcoma-MPC was able to construct a three-storey building which served as its main office and housed the various departments that are vital to its feedmilling business. The same year was also made remarkable by the prestigious Most Outstanding Marketing Cooperative Award it received from the then BCOD and Ministry of Agriculture.

Limcoma has established a reputation for being the first on many aspects. In 1994, it has become the first computerized feedmill in the Philippines and in the whole of Southeast Asia with state-of-the-art equipment from Netherlands. It also erected a 97-foot twin Silo designed to store up to more than 3,600 tons of raw materials with maintained quality and moisture content. It is also the first cooperative feedmill to be ISO certified in 2002.

With 31 branches and 36 outlets in Regions IV-A and B, the cooperative is just gaining its momentum in continued market expansion and increased value added services and benefits especially to those availing of its major programs.
