Lille Healthcare has been specialising in the manufacture and distribution of continence aids for over 45 years. As a pure continence company, we are dedicated to distributing a wide range of disposable and washable products to all sectors of the healthcare industry to assist with the management of continence care.
Our proven dedication to continence care enables us to effectively supply innovative products and services to all customer groups:
All government state contracts Public and private hospitals Residential care facilities Distributors and their end users
Our disposable continence aids are produced at our state-of-the-art factory based in Lille, France. We have established and pioneered sustainable manufacturing technologies, which are complemented by rigorous testing processes to ensure our products are made to the highest
standards. Lille products are a high quality, 100% breathable, latex-free range that caters for all levels of incontinence, allowing for maximum skin integrity and providing the user with a complete, manageable and dignified solution to continence management.
Lille’s technological ability allied with a system of quality assurance enables us to guarantee that our products combine comfort, security and discretion.
Our integrated QSE (Quality Security Environment) system of management has obtained the ISO 9001, OHSAS 18001 and ISO 14001 certifications.
At Lille Healthcare, we are aware of the sensitive environment in which our products are being used. Education and product performance is always a priority and to this end the best training and education has always been an integral and important part of our culture.
Philosophy : Making continence care a lille easierLille Healthcare’s promise is to be “constantly better” and to continually provide superior products, product development, customer service, clinical assistance and advice, and expert education – creating an exceptional overall continence management solution. Lille Healthcare is committed to setting the standard in the category and should ultimately be the ‘go to’ company for all aspects of continence management.

Respect of the environment represents an important part of Lille Healthcare’s corporate goals and the control of our impact on the environment is continually being improved.
Since 2005, the production site in Wasquehal, France has been certified ISO 14001, which demonstrates the implementation and continuous improvement of a system of environmental management.
Lille Healthcare is committed to meeting all regulatory requirements by implementing planned environmental monitoring and surveillance.
Our program of actions includes the prevention of pollution, minimising rejected material and reducing waste, noise and energy consumption. One of the top priorities of the Lille factory is to maximise the level of recycling of waste to exceed 85%.
We are also particularly attentive with the origin of the raw material used in our manufacturing process. Thus, 100% of the fluff pulp, the principal component of our products, is sourced from suppliers that are affiliated to programs of forestry development like FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) or SFI (Sustainable Forestry Initiative). These programs assure the highest level of environmental, ethical, social and economical management of the natural reserves.
All our products are developed and manufactured with the aim of minimising their impact on the environment (for instance, through the reduction of the thickness of the Polyethylene bags) whilst ensuring optimal performance.
Finally, the optimisation of our logistic flows contributes to the reduction of our CO2 emissions, thereby reducing our carbon footprint.

If you experience bladder and/or bowel weakness, you’re not alone – over 930,000 New Zealanders suffer from incontinence – and while urinary incontinence may be more common in women and the elderly, bladder and/or bowel weakness can occur at any age.
Urinary incontinence describes the condition when the bladder leaks involuntarily. Bladder weakness varies from person to person and sufferers can lose relatively small to large amounts of urine at any one time.
Did you know...
Incontinence is one of the three major causes, (along with mobility and dementia) for admission to residential aged care facilities.
The ratio of women to men who suffer from incontinence is 4:1
3-5% of people over the age of 18 years old suffer from urinary incontinence on a daily basis
85% of people in rest homes and hospital care experience some sort of incontinence
Only a third of people with an incontinence problem, seek advice
(Reference: New Zealand 2006 Census)
URINARy INCONTINENCE...it’s nothing to be embarrassed about
WHat cauSeS
bLadder WeakNeSS?There are many causes of bladder weakness.
In most cases, weakened pelvic floor muscles are the cause of bladder weakness.
If these muscles are weak there may be an involuntary release of urine. Bladder weakness can be the result of, or related to:
Pregnancy Childbirth Surgery Menopause Prostate problems Obesity Constipation
It can also be a side effect of some medications. (This list is not exhaustive.)
What is incontinence Incontinence is a term that describes any
accidental or involuntary loss of urine from the bladder, or bowel motion, faeces or wind from the bowel.
Incontinence is not just a problem for older people. It should not be considered normal. It can often be a sign of other health problems.
Sometimes it can be cured and other times it can be managed better with the right advice or treatment.
It is a sign or symptom of an underlying cause.
Incontinence is a widespread condition that ranges in severity from just a small leak to complete loss of bladder or bowel control
Approximately 930,000 New Zealanders have bladder and/or bowel weakness:
1 in 3 women
1 in 10 men

TyPES OF INCONTINENCE
88
Drink plenty of fluids
Aim for 6-8 glasses per day (unless otherwise specified by your doctor).
Limit bladder irritants such as tea, coffee, cola drinks and alcohol.
Practice good bladder habits
Only go to the toilet when you need to – avoid ‘just in case’.
Take your time when emptying your bladder, so that it empties completely.
Sit on the seat – don’t ‘hover’. Studies have shown that the toilet seat is actually one of the cleanest places in public toilets!
Practice good bowel habits
Avoid constipation by eating lots of fruit and vegetables and staying active.
Adopt the ideal sitting position and do not strain when using your bowel – this can weaken your pelvic floor muscles (the muscles that you use to control your bladder and bowel).
Look after your pelvic floor muscles
Practice regular pelvic floor muscle training to keep your pelvic floor muscles strong.
Seek help if you have any concerns
Consult a healthcare professional, such as your GP, if you notice any changes in your bladder habits.
Tips for a healthy bladder and bowel
Pelvic floor muscles – use it or lose it
Pelvic floor muscles are the layer of firm and thick muscles that span the bottom of the pelvis and support the pelvic organs (the bladder, bowel and the uterus in women). Although we cannot see the pelvic floor muscles, they can be consciously controlled and therefore trained. Strengthening these muscles with exercise helps to actively support the bladder and bowel, and improves bladder control and can reduce or stop the leakage of urine and faeces. Other benefits include a reduced risk of prolapse (a ‘sagging’ of internal organs, which literally means ‘to fall out of place’), better recovery from childbirth and surgery, increased sexual sensation and orgasmic potential, and increased social confidence and quality of life.
Do your pelvic floor exercises regularly to strengthen the muscles (if you don’t use it – you’ll lose it!) Health professionals can advise you on how to do your pelvic floor muscle exercises correctly
9
GOOD NEWS!The good news is that in most cases, the causes of incontinence are reversible. 60-70% of those who suffer incontinence can be treated, or the symptoms can be better managed.

100% breathableBreathability across the entire surface area of the pad, enabling the air to flow to maximise skin integrity.
No humidityThe breathable back sheet facilitates air flow, preventing humidity and maintaining the skin’s dryness.
More absorbencyDouble absorbent core in the centre of the pad to optimise absorbency level.
More discreetQuiet waterproof back sheet limits awkward noise, helping to preserve the user’s dignity.
No leakageHydrophobic leg cuffs prevent sideways leakage. The acquisition layer improves the rate of absorption, greatly reducing the risk of leakage and any potential feeling of wetness.
Wetness indicatorThe wetness indicator will turn blue when in contact with urine and indicates when the pad should be changed for maximum comfort.
Odour controlNew generation super absorbent polymer maximises the absorbency level and neutralises odours.
11
Clinically ProvenThe survey below shows that the use of a breathable back sheet reduces the infection rate of Candida Albicans by 50% when compared to polyethylene backed products.
This technological advance provides the users:
MORE COMFORT: due to the breathability of the back sheet and side panels
MORE DISCRETION: the quiet back sheet limits awkward noise
DIGNITy: the breathability and quietness of the back sheet combined with the existing level and speed of absorption helps to preserve the user’s dignity.
The Suprem range offers technologically advanced products to ensure a superior level of performance. The range is also 100% breathable and hypoallergenic.
Hypoallergenic Product
The SUPREM range has been tested under dermatological conditions with the results proving the pads to be hypoallergenic.
Survival of the Candida Albicans on human skin under incontinence management (Source: EDANA)
This study shows that the number of infections by Candida Albicans has been reduced by 50% among the users wearing breathable backed products in comparison with the users wearing polyethylene backed products.

The savings we are achieving are not only related to the amount of product being used but also the significant saving in time and ancillary costs in laundry. All feedback I have had from
caregivers and residents has been positive from the first day. Residents report the product is more comfortable and discreet,
with less irritation in the warmer weather

Lille Healthcare considers education as the most important ongoing step to ensure best practice continence management. We offer a comprehensive and diverse range of face-to-face education from basic pad application to formalised sessions that attract Professional Development hours.
Lille recognises the importance of offering education to all nursing staff working in a facility. That is why our education package extends to all nursing staff, including weekend and night duty staff.
Lille believes that on-site, face-to-face education is paramount to effective continence related facility management. Complimenting the face-to-face delivery is our online learning centre. The online component provides secondary access to the learning materials and allows staff to complete interactive quizzes and obtain a certificate for each course.
Facility and Group management are able to access the online centre in order to generate reports on their staff’s enrolments, course completions, certificates and staff evaluations of each course.
What is LCI?

Qualified Continence Nurse Advisors
LCI courses are devised and delivered by our specialist team of qualified Continence Advisors, who have extensive experience as Registered Nurses in various healthcare settings, such as residential aged care, community care, mental health, rehabilitation units, acute care, and accident emergency.
Learning Materials
Supporting learning materials that feature handy diagrams and that are referenced for further reading are provided for each course.
LCI courses are regularly reviewed by our specialist team to ensure all information reflects current evidence-based best practice.
Face-to-face delivery
LCI courses are conducted face-to-face by our qualified Continence Nurse Advisors.
Face-to-face delivery affords staff the opportunity to actively participate in ‘hands on’ demonstrations, ask questions, and engage in discussion with their peers and superiors.
e-Learning
Complementing the face-to-face delivery is our online learning centre.
The online component provides secondary access to the learning materials and also allows staff to complete interactive quizzes and obtain a certificate for each course.

The New Zealand Nursing Council stipulates that nurses must participate in at least 20 Professional Development hours per year in order to maintain their registration.
