LEGISLATIVE REPORTS IX

House Bills

HB 1134 -- Would permit persons 18 or older to be parties in civil suits and to appear before courts without guardians. Amended and recommended for passage by Senate Judiciary Committee.

HB ll69 -- Would require physicians and laboratories to report all cancers and malignancies. to State Board of Health. Amended and passed by Senate, 45-3; now in House­Senate conference committee to resolve differences in House and Senate versions of bill.

HB 1277 -- Would prohibit denial or revocation of professional and occupational licenses because applicant or holder has been convicted of a misdemeanor or felony. Passed by Senate, 36-13, and sent to Governor.

HB 1759 -- Would allow Indiana University students who will graduate in next commencement to vote in elections for alumni trustees. Recommended for passage by Senate Education Committee.

Eriday-Sunday -- The national council meeting of Phi Epsilon Kappa, men's physical education professional fraternity, will be held at the Medical Center. The organization was founded at the Normal College in 1913. Specially honored will be Rudolph R. Schreiber, professo~ of physical education, who will be retiring as the group's national executive secretary after 37 years in the post. He and the rest of the national council will be honored by the Indianapolis Alumni Chapter and the Normal College chapter Saturday at a Founders' Day Banquet at the Naval Armory.

Friday -- "The Regulation of Muscle Metabolism and Function by Protein Phosphorylation," Biochemistry Graduate Student Seminar by John Larson; Medical Science Building, Room 326, 4 p.m.

Coming Up -- Dr._~zug Nishiyama will be on campus Monday (April 9) to acquaint students and facult with the ro ram of the Ja an-America Institute of Management Science. Coffee hours are scheduled for 10:30 a.m. in Room K264 of the Krannert Building at 38t Street and for 2 p.m. in the Faculty Lounge of Cavanaugh Hall.

Picture Perfect -- "The Photograph as Object" will be the topic of a speech by William G. Larson at the _Her_yon School of Art Auditorium on Monday (April 9) at 4:30 p.m. Larson, a noted professional photographer, is on the faculty of the Tyler School of Art at Temple University. The lecture is free and open to the public.
