Ligier
History and future with Onroak Automotive
After an very nice career as a motorbike and racing car driver, Guy Ligier began
to construct race cars in 1969. Five years in endurance, marked by a second
place for the Ligier JS2 at the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 1975, preceded an
adventure in Formula 1 that lasted more than twenty years.
Between 1976 and 1996 in Formula 1, Ligier filled the runner-up spot in the
Formula 1 World Championship in 1980, scored 50-podium finishes, 9 grand prix
victories including the one by Olivier Panis in the streets of Monaco.
In 2005, Ligier made its return to track with “CN” sports prototypes, the JS 49, JS
51 then JS 53 models.
More than 40 years after its creation, the legendary make was acquired by
Onroak Automotive in 2013.
This new start has given birth to a range of sports prototypes, Ligier JS P2, Ligier
JS P3, Ligier JS P217, then Ligier JS P4, names chosen out of respect for the
history of the make: a way to nurture the future of Onroak Automotive with
Ligier’s glorious sporting past.
In 2016, Onroak Automotive established its American workshop in Denver, North
Carolina, based on the experience of a pre-existing team managed by Max
Crawford, in particular for the design and production of F4 single-seaters.
By renaming the latter the Ligier JS F4 and by proposing a car for the next step
on the ladder, the Ligier JS F3, the constructor is bringing the Ligier name back
into sprint racing and single-seaters in 2018.

The Ligier JS P2, the first born of the joining between Onroak Automotive and Ligier, has the name “JS P2” in respecting the history of the make.
Launched in June 2014, the Ligier JS P2 has been homologated for three years, conform to the ACO-FIA regulations in place until 2017. It can fit the three engines
on offer, Honda HPD, Judd HK and Nissan VK45.

Presented during the week of the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 2015, the Ligier JS P3 fully benefits from its links to the Ligier JS P2, namely as inspiration for its design
and its aerodynamics: a choice in terms of efficiency.
The driving comfort has been at the heart of the development. The Ligier JS P3 has a large cockpit, which offers a great volume around the driver around the chest
and leg areas. Its pedal board that’s adjustable to three different positions allows for short drivers as well as tall drivers to be accommodated safely. Particular
attention has also been given to the ventilation system of the cockpit and for the driver.
The use of a system to protect the driver’s head which also respects the 2017 LM P1 regulations is an extra asset in terms of security.
Onroak Automotive’s engineers have also concentrated themselves on the ease of maintenance and managing the cost of the parts in respecting the philosophy of
accessibility of the LM P3 category.
Since its beginnings in competition at the end of 2015, la Ligier JS P3 won 4 titles, in European Le Mans Series, Asian Le Mans Series and Asian Le Mans Sprint Cup.
The Ligier JS P3 is eligible in several series, including the European le Mans Series, the Michelin Le Mans Cup, the Asian Le Mans Series and the Asian Le Mans Sprint
Cup, the V de V Endurance Series, and the IMSA Prototype Challenge, just to name a few.

The Ligier JS 53 EVO 2, thanks to its performance, high level of security, perfect balance and a real ease of driving, is ideal for young drivers and for gentlemen
drivers who want to discover driving an endurance sport-prototype.
Equipped with a 2-litre Honda engine that produces 255 bhp and a sequential Sadev six-speed gearbox, this CN category sport prototype is offering, since 2015, a
kit to give a greater aerodynamic efficiency, which notably improves the speed in the corners and limits tyre degradation. A new electronic management system also
improves the driving comfort.
The Ligier JS 53 EVO 2 benefits from the experience of the JS 49, JS 51 and JS 53 models. It signed several victories the last past years, namely in the V de V
Endurance Series, the Asian Le Mans Series or the Sport-prototype Italian Championship.
In 2017, a 1,6 litre turbo Peugeot engine is also available, and the Ligier JS 53 EVO 2 is eligible in the V de V Endurance Series, Asian Le Mans Sprint Cup and also
in various national series and hill climbs.
