Purchase an in-room interactive patient system that will give patients and their families the freedom to better understand and track their medications and tests, watch educational videos, communicate with their care providers, and monitor their electronic health record. Patients benefit from improved safety, enhanced communication, and the ability to provide real-time feedback. Fund the “Mission Cataract” program that provides financial aid to patients for cataract screening and surgery. Expand parking facilities at Camp Victory to accommodate additional staff and campers. Also, fund a project that would assist the camp in tracking essential in-formation on volunteers and counselors to ensure campers are safe. Purchase sleep sofas for the Janet Weis Children’s Hospital’s (JWCH) Neonatal Intensive Care Unit to better accommodate families in their time of need. Support a pediatric injury prevention program that will provide education and tools in the area of early childhood injury prevention to families. Assist in the purchase of a stained glass chapel door for a new Meditation Chapel at the JWCH, GMC. Provide oral nutritional supplements to malnourished end stage renal disease patients. The purchase of a ‘mock brain’ imaging scanner for the Autism and Developmental Medicine Institute. The goal of the scanner is to help children with special developmental needs prepare for brain imaging studies, which will reduce unnecessary stress on the child and ultimately improve results. Assist the smoking cessation program to provide medical therapy not covered by insurance plans. Buy specialized ice packs for total knee replacement patients, which will help to improve outcomes.

Fund a carpet renovation project at the Ronald McDonald House, located on the GMC campus. Improve health education and data collection with the purchase of an educational touch-screen program for patients suffering from kidney disease. Purchase an on-the-go fetal monitoring system for pre-delivery moms, allowing them to maintain mobility while in the hospital. Obtain an otoscope/ophthalmoscope simulator to be used by student nurses and medical residents as an educational tool in identification of abnormal pathology of the eyes and ears. Replace supplies for a central line mannequin that allows for simulation training in the Adult Intensive Care Unit. Provide educational information for patients who are being treated for a brain tumor and/or attend the brain tumor support group so they may be more engaged in their healthcare. Assist the Nurses Improving Care for Healthsystem Elders (NICHE) program by buying therapeutic devices for all adult inpatient units to decrease the incidence of delirium and its associated complications. Obtain additional continuous glucose monitors for patients, which allow the staff to track significant increases in readings without requiring needle sticks from the patient. The additional information will help the physician develop a personal treatment plan for the patient. Provide additional education to neurotrauma patients and their families related to their injuries, specifically spinal injuries, so they better understand the trauma and rehabilitation process. Fund education in the Emergency Medicine residency program by purchasing an ultrasound simulator. The simulator will allow residents to practice their techniques in both routine and critical circumstances.
