BLANKETS ON THE WAY FOR THE CHILDREN

We read in Luke 10:28, 25 and 27 the parable of the Good Samaritan and the ques-

tions asked by the expert in the law. He asked: “Teacher, what must I do to inherit

eternal life?” He gave the answer himself: “Love the Lord God with all your heart and

with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind you neighbour as

yourself.” He then asked the important question that I also want to ask today: “WHO

IS MY NEIGHBOUR?” Jesus told the famous parable of the Good Samaritan. He trav-

elled from Jerusalem to Jericho; robbers overtook him, beat him and left him half

dead (Almost like the hi-jacking’s today?) A priest passed that way but although he

saw the man, he passed on the other side. He did not even speak to him, he just ig-

nored him. Then the Levite did likewise - and just to think they were the religious peo-

ple of that time. Then the Samaritan came and did something. It cost him time, effort

and money. He went over to action.

We have a Heavenly Samaritan who came and stopped by us, washed our wounds and

healed us, and paid with His own blood for our needs. Now let us look at our own

country. We can be plagued by beggars at every corner; we see so much need and be-

come hard hearted. Because we cannot help everyone, we help no one. We are over-

whelmed by the need. We “pass by on the other side”. There are hundreds of hungry

children all around Pretoria in the black townships and also the white “camps”. Many

street children, begging on street corners; there are people sleeping under cardboard

boxes in streets. Thank God, there are some Samari-

tans who reach out to these people and do some-

thing. Do you want to be a Levite or a Samaritan?

There are our 600 plus children who are being fed

every day in Winterveld. They have also received

blankets this year, we are thankful! We teach them

the Word by the dramas they so love to take part in.

The Good Samaritan is a favourite. A child, who is a

good reader, reads the word, out of the Bible, and

then the “actors” perform the actions. We all enjoy

the way they interpret the story... but we know they

will never forget it!

News: (1.) The vegetable tunnels are being used,

and spinach is growing well. We have a woman gar-

dener who manages it very competently. Momen-

tum people visited and brought blankets, food and

love. It is sincerely appreciated. (2.) Pastor Edward of Venda’s daughter was hijacked

last year and also left on the side of the road unconscious. Months later after she re-

covered from her wounds, she realised that she was pregnant. He asked her not to

have an abortion and now the babies have been born... twin boys! Our assembly has

been generous to give baby clothes, and they are so thankful. Please pray for her in-

ner healing and provision.

With Love in Jesus, Rosli Strydom (Chairperson)

We thank God for the field

workers and cooks who

work non-stop to help the

children!

soos jouself.” Daarna vra hy DIE VRAAG WAT EK VANDAG WIL VRA: “EN WIE IS MY

NAASTE?”

los. (Klink nogal of hy “hi-jack” deur gegaan het?) Wel, die priester sien hom, maar

gaan ver langs verby.

Dit

het hom moeite, tyd en geld gekos. Hy was heelwaarskynlik laat vir sy afspraak waar-

Ons word so oorval

deur “armlastiges” dat ons nie meer sien

nie. Ons kyk weg, ons harte word on-

gevoelig... ons loop ver langs verby. Daar

is honger wesies in elke swart woonbuurt

Gelukkig is

moontlike gebied.Die groentetonnels se spinasie groei pragtig! Daar is ‘n flukse vrou

wat tuinmaak. (2.)

(seuntjies) is gebore. Hulle was

baie dankbaar.
