PARISH CALENDAR IN THE PARISH

Two New Programs to Start at Holy Spirit I am soliciting interest within our parish in regard to starting and hosting one or both of the following programs at Holy Spirit: “That Man Is You!” and “The

Choice Wine”. Both programs have been developed by an organization called "Paradisus Dei", which, translated, means "The Paradise of God". I was intro-duced to the first program at a small breakout group during the annual Dioce-san "Man of God" Conference. I have since completed the fall semester at St. Bernard's Church in Stewartville and am inviting interested men from our par-ish to join me for the second semester to help assess its benefits and solicit in-terest within our own parish. I am also looking for input from married couples interested in assessing and piloting the second program within our parish. Both programs have been very successful in transforming the lives of Catholics throughout the U.S. For additional information, expression of interest in either program, or ques-tions, please contact Rick Stevens at [email protected] or 281-3110.

Men’s Ministry: "That Man is

You!” (TMIY) "That Man is You! honestly address-es the pressures and temptations that men face in our modern culture, especially those relating to their roles as husbands and fathers. The program harmonizes current social and medical science with the teachings of the Church and the wisdom of the saints to develop the vision of man fully alive!" (excerpt from Paradisus Dei website) All men are invited to attend weekly sessions of TMIY at St. Bernard's Parish, in Stewartville, MN beginning Saturday, February 2 at 8:00 AM. This pro-gram is designed to help challenge us to grow in our Catholic faith as men, husbands and fathers. Register online at https://admin.paradisusdei.org/location_details/st-bernard-s-parish or contact Andy Drees at [email protected] or 952-465-9841. "As iron sharpens iron, so one man sharpens another" (Prov. 27:17).

Marriage Ministry: "The Choice Wine” (TCW) "Integrating the latest findings from modern science with the timeless teaching of the faith and the wisdom of the saints, The Choice Wine: 7 Steps to a Super-abundant Marriage places authentic marital happiness within every couple’s reach. By opening to couples the interior life of the Holy Family at Nazareth, The Choice Wine helps couples to experience a foretaste of Paradise in their marriage and family." (excerpt from Paradisus Dei website)

IN THE PARISH

Winter Chill 2019 Last Saturday, over 100 middle schoolers gathered for our annual Winter Chill Rochester area-wide event at Pax Christi. This year’s theme was SEEK. We talked about seeking the Kingdom of God through growing our relationship with Him in prayer, service to others, and building community. For service we made fleece blankets for the Ronald McDonald House and Project Linus and made soup in bags with notes of encouragement to be distributed with prayer shawls to people in need of prayer and support. For prayer we had an awesome speaker then talked about ways to pray in small groups and in the Living Rosary station. We spent time praising the Lord with music and prayer during Adoration. Then we headed over to the Youth Center for dancing and racing through the inflatable obstacle course, playing large scale twister, a bounce house and slide and even jousting. There was also video games, board games and foosball.

Knights of Columbus Free Throw Challenge The free throw challenge was Sunday, January 27 led by KC members Steve Wasz and Jerome Lensing. All four youth participants will go on to the next round on Sunday, February 10 at 6:30 PM at Holy Spirit. The four participants were Johnathan Scully, David Scully, John Shannon, and Drew Schindler.
