The largest forklift trucks in Doosan Industrial Vehicle’s 7-Series range have entered

production. Built at the company’s factory in Incheon, South Korea — also the location of Doosan’s new research facility — they are designed for more demanding industrial envi-ronments, including heavy manufac-turing, mining, construction and the metal and timber industries.

The newest forklifts range from 10 to 16 tons. They follow the launch of Doosan’s 2 to 5.5 ton models in 2014 and the 6 to 9 ton machines early this year. The new D100S-7 has a total unloaded weight of 33,488 lb. The D120S-7 is at 35,693 lb., the D140S-7 is at 39,672 lb., and the D160S-7 is at 41,877 lb.

The D100S-7 to D160S-7 forklifts have four-cycle, six-cylinder Doosan DL06 engines with a rated output of 173 hp at 2100 rpm. Maximum torque for the four new models is 535 lb.ft. at 1400 rpm.

The DL06 engines comply with Tier 4 final/Stage 4 emissions regulations due to the machines’ availability in Europe and everywhere that Tier 4 final/Stage 4 or equivalent emissions regulations are in force. The forklifts are also avail-able with a Stage 3b-compliant engine for use in other regions.

Doosan said that by using diesel oxidation catalyst (DOC) exhaust

treat ment technology along with an exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) system, the engine consumes 23% less fuel than engines of compa-rable size. It also has longer main-tenance intervals and maintenance-free aftertreatment systems that reduce the total cost of ownership over the life of the engine, the com-pany said.

The new forklifts have a fully auto-matic ZF transmission with three for-ward and three reverse speeds as well as Parker hydraulics.

Doosan America recently received an order for 25 of the D1605-7 units. dp
