  • Despite our best efforts, its appears that Jacks condition has changed. The physician will evaluate him and update you
  • Jacks neurological condition has changed. The physician will now need to determine if there is any sign of life inside his brain

  • Someone will be here later to share information with you about organ and tissue donation.
  • One of the end of life discussions you will have later concerns organ and tissue donation.

5. Reactions: Preliminary Mention

  • I understand this is a lot to take in when you have only just heard about your loved ones condition. But I want to encourage you to hear all the information just as you did when making decisions for his/her medical care.
  • I understand that this can be upsetting at first, but like any important family decision it is vital to have all the best information.

6. Family Brings up Donation

  • My commitment is to care for Jack.I will contact someone who specializes in donation and ask them to speak with you

7. The brain death diagnosis

  • Sadly, this means that Jack has died. His death certificate will show that he died at 2:00 today.

8. Slowing down the process

  • I am sure this is a difficult decision for you. Let me start the process. Why dont you spend some time with Jack. Members of our end of life team may be in to speak with you
