Principal’s Report
District PSSA Swimmers
In week 5 our school swimming team competed at the
district swimming carnival at Cootamundra. The team
performed bravely against some very talented
swimmers, with some outstanding results.
Zac Green and Keegan Newman were runner ups in their
age groups on the day.
Kaitlyn Heir and Zac Green represented our school at
the Riverina carnival at Albury.
Easter Fun
Can you believe our Easter Fun Day is only 4 weeks
away?! Our SRC will once again be running our Easter
Egg Raffle and we will be seeking donations of Easter
eggs from families – see note regarding our Fun Day
later in this newsletter.
Healthy Harold visits us
Once again Healthy Harold has visited Junee North,
providing very important learning experiences to all of
our students. This year our students were very fortunate
to have this opportunity at reduced cost to our families.
Our school very generously subsidised the program,
ensuring every child participated. The Life Education van
supports our PD/H/PE syllabus, covering areas such as
making lifestyle decisions with regards to healthy eating
and physical exercise, medicine safety, managing peer
pressure, bullying, how our body systems work and what
can affect them in positive and negative ways.
Afternoon Pick Up Time
Any child being collected by a parent in the afternoon
must wait inside the school gate until their parent
comes. Students are not permitted to walk out of
the front gate unattended.
In order to ensure the safety of all students we ask that
our parents refrain from waiting on classroom
verandahs or ramps as this makes it very difficult for
teachers to monitor children leaving at the end of the
day, as well as being unsettling when children spot
mum or dad out of the classroom window! Parents are
welcome to wait near the playground equipment or
basketball court.
No children (including preschoolers or toddlers should
be on the playground equipment at the end of the day.
P&C Meeting
Our P&C meeting was well attended last week, with
many new faces and lots of great and exciting new
fundraising ideas for Junee North. Watch this space!
The AGM was held with all executive positions being
filled. Congratulations to the following people for
being elected to fill positions on our P&C:
President: Mr Kim Lemmich
Vice President: Mr Anthony White
Secretary: Mrs Bianca Guthrie
Treasurer: Mrs Teri Edson
Student Use of Digital Devices &
Online Services
The NSW Department of Education has developed a
new Student Use of Digital Devices and online
Services Procedure Policy. Junee North has
developed our policy to comply with our school needs.
This policy has been developed in consultation with
parents at our P&C meeting last Tuesday. The
implementation of the policy does not mean many
changes to our current school policy and procedures.
Students are still required to hand in all electronic
devices each morning to the front office and collected
from there each afternoon. Devices are not to be used
on the school site, including while waiting at the
bus/walkers lines. Devices are not permitted at any
school activity, sporting event or excursion, including
overnight excursions. A copy of the policy has been
sent home with this newsletter. Please pay close
attention to the following sections:
Our School’s Approach

Consequences for inappropriate use at our

House Champs!
As part of our positive behaviour initiatives, last
Thursday saw the announcement of our fortnightly
House Champs – well done to Floyd students who
managed to achieve a total of 193 points for respectful,
responsible and safe behaviour and positive classroom
effort.
Thumbs Up! A big thumbs up to all of our wonderful parents who
have requested an interview time with class teachers.
Your child’s learning is very important to us.
Reminders
No Hat Play in the Shade
School hats must be worn during break, PE and sport
times. Please ensure hats (& other items are clearly
labelled with your child’s name.
School Banking
Dollarmite information packs will be distributed to our
new students. Students are to put their bankbooks into
their class bank bags.

Girls Cricket
PSSA Girls Cricket- Junee North v South Wagga
Played at Bolton Park on Tuesday 3rd March, 2020
Junee North won the toss and sent South Wagga in to
bat first. We had the perfect start when Emily got a
wicket in the first over. From there though South Wagga
batted impressively. Amelia took an excellent catch off
Claire’s bowling to get a second wicket. Montana
bowled one batter, while Emily took a good catch off
Sienna Butt’s bowling. Montana got a second wicket as
well. Seanna Bailey was tremendous as wicketkeeper,
and Milly also did a fine job in what is a challenging
position. In the face of many hard hit shots, our bowlers
and fielders remained determined and held up well.
South Wagga made 145 in their 25 overs.
South Wagga bowled superbly when we started batting.
Emily and Amelia did an excellent job early on to survive,
with Amelia unfortunately getting out just as things
were about to become easier. At this point Emily
accelerated, hitting eight fours before having to retire
on 40. She had another fantastic partnership, this time
with Millie, who in her first game was very impressive
with the bat. Bianca also batted well with Emily,
particularly when the opening bowlers returned to have
another go. A couple of unfortunate run outs saw us
lose some quick wickets, although our final batter
Delaney helped herself to four runs with a handy edge.
Junee North were all out for 80.
Thanks to the parents and other adults who provided
transport and support, your help and positive vibes were
most appreciated! For most of the girls it was their first
game of cricket and it was exciting them continue to
improve from when we first started training. This is a
credit to their perseverance and the effort they have put
in. Thanks for playing girls! Mr B
District Basketball Trials
Riley Dobson recently tried out for the PSSA District
Basketball team in Temora. Riley demonstrated
outstanding skills and leadership. Well Done Riley.
District Soccer Trials
Last Friday, Claire O’Rafferty, Zac Green, Bodhi Thelan,
Caleb Kearnes & Jovan Manutai travelled to
Cootamundra to participate in the PSSA District Soccer
team trials. Congratulations to Caleb Kearnes who was
successful in being selected in the PSSA District team.
Caleb will head off to Wagga for the Riverina Trials on
25 March. Well done!

PSSA District ALF trials
Jack Henderson will participate in the PSSA District
selection trials this Friday. Good Luck!
A Visit from Needles
Last Thursday Kindergarten Red had a visit from Chris
and Needles the Echidna. We read a book that taught
us about sharps. We know that if we see a sharp in a
play area, we must not touch it and we must tell a
grown up. Sharps include glass, needles, knives and
blades.
