Life as Missions
What is Missions?
•Unique calling for a few people?
•Universal way of living for all who know and follow Jesus?
Two Most Important Rules
• Love God… with everything you are. All your heart, all your soul, all your mind, all your strength.
• Love others… love your neighbor as yourself.
Matthew 28: 18-2018 Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. 19 Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”
What Jesus Didn’t Say• I love you… • I’ll miss you… •Go and build buildings. Go and make yourselves comfortable. Go and make comfortable small groups where everyone feels comfortable because it’s all people of similar interests, backgrounds, culture, language groups, etc.

Give them the message of hope and forgiveness of sins, restoration of full and right relationship with God, authority over sin and death, eternal life. • To the Jews who had believed him, Jesus said, “If you hold to my teaching, you are really my disciples. •Reaching out and bringing the gospel to those around us •Where does Missions start? Doesn’t it have to start with those immediately around us? Our “neighbors” • Power of the Gospel- salvation

Gospel= GOOD NEWS•For God so loved the world that he gave his one
and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. John 3:16 • “Glory to God in the highest heaven,
and on earth peace to those on whom his favor rests.” Luke 2:14 •How beautiful on the mountains
are the feet of those who bring good news, who proclaim peace, who bring good tidings, who proclaim salvation, who say to Zion, “Your God reigns!” Isaiah 52:7

Life is Missions• “Do you feel sent by God to the place where you currently live or are you just in the most convenient situation available? Do you feel as though your life is lived with a God-given vision for your community because He has you there for a reason? Or was the neighborhood “nice” and the schools “good” and it felt “safe,” “advantageous,” “artistic,” or….? You fill in the blank.” Renovate
Application•Are you not sure about being on mission? • What’s standing between you and being sure? Try Alpha! Get involved in a small group! Find out the answers to the questions that need answered. “Draw near to God and He will draw near to you.” •Maybe you are a Christian and you are convicted and convinced of God’s love for you, but you still holding back from serving God. Too busy? Too distracted? Lost or forgotten God’s great love. You know it but you’ve let you love grow cold?
Application•Are you sure about being on mission? ➢ Great! Keep it up! ➢Let us not become weary in doing good,
for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up. Galatians 6:9 ➢Keep going for those that you just don’t
see how they will be healed or believe or change. Don’t give up on them. Pray for them, love them, ask God for wisdom and strength to continue to serve them.
