LiDAR Processing Automation & Analytics Software

Intelfuse is primarily a data provision and analytics company.

We specialise in the processing and extracting of detailed asset and vegetation data for Power Utilities.

We have developed our own software that extracts features from LiDAR, carries out detailed Vegetation Attribution and performs Engineering Calculations in a single process.

We provide data on the geospatial and physical attributes of assets and relevant vegetation and structures in corridors.

Intelfuse Pty. Ltd. | 1300 720 626 | www.intelfuse.com.au

We provide survey grade representation of vegetation e.g.• Specific tree counts, • Heights, • Density, • Diameter at Breast Height (DBH), • Growth Rates/Species, • Fall in and hazard assessment, • Tree location and ownership (private land owners, other

responsible parties etc.), • Machinery requirements to trim or remove, • Proximity to conductors, assets, buildings etc. • Other specific utility requirements

We also provide an integrated view of clearance zones (as determined by state based codes and legislation) taking into account engineering requirements such as

• Span length, • Conductor type, • Conductor sag and sway with maximum and simulated positions

e.g. wind, temp etc.

We assign costs and various risk values to vegetation tasks based on a client’s risk and cost model. This allows data to be analysed in scenario and future planning for various simulated programs to choose the optimal maintenance strategy. This includes the use of herbicides, machinery types, cycle times and aggregation of activities based on geography and packaging of work.

We provide this data in multiple open source formats. Using ESRI ArcGIS we provide deliverables as spatial datasets and tabular reports. The data provided can be fully integrated into mapping platforms, asset management and work management systems.

Our Software

Intelfuse has created one platform for LiDAR editing/viewing and reporting, which allows for one true data set with multiple outputs.

The one platform approach reduces the number of times the LiDAR data is uploaded/downloaded between multiple groups and imported/exported into different systems for analysis.

Intelfuse works with the Power Utility to confirm the requirements and inputs at the start of the project and this allows the Intelfuse engineers to update our software to align with the compliance, reliability and safety standards of the utility.

One platform for classification, modelling and reports allows for consistent repeatable data exports.

Our proprietary platform utilises LiDAR to automatically classify, model (creation of structures and conductor catenaries), and report on tree canopy/vegetation polygons location to the conductor and structure. The platform integrates utility data including structure names, conductor types, and vegetation clearance specification to allow for client specific reporting.

The tool uses algorithms to classify tree canopies so a vegetation inventory can be completed within the ROW. During the analysis of the LiDAR and creation of the tree canopy the tool measures fall-in trees based on the width and height of the tree and distance from the conductor to determine if a tree inside or outside of the ROW is a fall-in risk.

The system uses LiDAR point details contained in the tree polygon along with algorithms to create the diameter at breast height measurement.

Using the tree details – location in span, distance from conductor and the DBH allows the utility to make work plans for crews.

In addition to vegetation measurements the Intelfuse platform measures conductor clearances to ground at midspan and at the lowest point within a span. The system has the ability to analyse and report on circuit to circuit and phase to phase clearance distances.

The Intelfuse LiDAR viewing and editing platform runs a 3 step process after the LiDAR and utility data is imported - LiDAR is split into blocks and classified, the model and polygons are generated based on the classified data and utility attributes, the clearances are measured.

The final step is the QC and editing when required of the LAS files, model, and reports. The QC is the final step and when edits are made all file exports are edited by the software – this ensures data integrity.

This is all completed in one platform which allows for an efficient workflow with high repeatability, accuracy, and improved schedules due to the smarts of the system, reduced data manipulation and reduced number of times data is transferred between groups.
