THE SAFESTAK STORYLibrary Bureau Steel has been serving the specialized needs of libraries, schools and other institutions forover 100 years by virtue of it formerly being part of Library Bureau Inc. It is believed to have the largestinstalled base of book storage units and its presence figures prominently at the most prestigious libraries inAmerica.

SafeStak by Library Bureau Steel (LBS ) is high quality steel shelving engineered to provide librarians, officemanagers, architects and designers with a flexible system noted for its superior versatility, durable constructionand aesthetic appearance, including the NEW ArtiStak and ArtiSteel l lines in addition to our WoodStakline that you can separately add wood facia to the base, shelves and canopy tops. LBS can now provideCustom Designed Wood, Laminate and Laser Cut End Panels featuring VistaPanel to economically personalizeyour renovation or new construction project. LBS takes into account weight and size differentials as well as thelocal construction codes to provide a broad range of styles designed to satisfy the most stringent architects.

SafeStak SB, sway braced construction utilizing steel web stiffeners is the strongest and most versatile book-stack design on the market today. This classical construction provides permanent structural rigidity and isdesigned to meet the strictest codes for seismic zones throughout the United States. Industry studies haveshown sway braced construction to be far superior in minimizing lateral and longitudinal deflection.

SafeStak WF, welded frame construction, also reinforced with steel web stiffener, for those parts of the coun-try with less demanding seismic requirements. Also available with added bracing or sway braces to meet thestrictest codes for all seismic zones including the new Maximum Considered Earthquake (MCE) value system.

SafeStak Design Features:• At the heart of every SafeStak system is a thick steel web stiffener reinforcement welded into a single struc-

tural column that interlocks into a one-piece base bracket. The combination of the added thickness at everycolumn, with the heavy gauge base bracket, provides the strongest lateral stability in the industry.

• The plain one-piece base bracket bolted to the side of the uprights provides substantial strength and stiff-ness to the construction as opposed to those constructions in which the brackets wrap around the upright.

• SafeStak 13 gauge base brackets allow for the strongest floor attachment in the industry.

• Our extensive fabrication facilities employs both hard tooling and CNC technology to assure consistent piece quality to assure proper assembly as well as fabricate your special need components.

• Height and width of bookstack sections can be adjusted during installation to fit building conditions (Swaybrace construction and Expandable Units).

• Bookstack can follow the line of an uneven floor which will prevent gaps and openings under the baseshelf when the building floor is uneven (sway brace construction).

SafeStak is easily mounted on others movable carriages when high density storage applications are desired oron our own mechanical or electrical SPACE-MAX II SYSTEM giving complete design flexibility with a wide choice of standard sizes, special purpose shelves, a full line of accessories and special works capability.

In summary, SafeStak, whether of sway braced or welded construction, outperforms the competition becauseof its built-in design and ADA compliant safety features.

1. 36" wide sections are standard.2. Standard 24" and/or 30" wide sections are also available as follows:

• Sway-braced and welded frames.• Flat book shelves (#'s 1207, 1208, 1209, 1210, 1211, 1212, 1213, 1214, 1215 and 1218).• Divider shelves.• Canopy tops.• Closed backs.Other accessories or shelves such as Tu-bar shelves, periodical shelves, lockers, etc. are standard onlyin 36" width.

3. 24" and 30" wide sections or frames may be ordered by suffixing "–5" to catalog number for 24" wide and"–6" for 30" wide sections.

NOMINAL DIMENSIONSThe adjustable shelf depths are stated in "nominal" dimensions which indicates the depth from the front of theshelf to the Centerline of the 2" uprights. The Actual depth is 1" less than the Nominal Depth.

STANDARD BOOKSTACK HEIGHTSStandard heights for Library Bureau Steel bookstacks are 42", 66", 78", 84", and 90". Special heights areavailable for a net one-time modification charge per size. List the closest higher catalog number with the suffix 'MOD' and followed by the overall height desired. All bookstack heights are actual dimensions. Max 120"

DELIVERY- Shipments of Library Bureau Steel bookstack are adequately bulk packed in clear plastic not toexceed 75 lbs. and labelled for safe transit. Unless noted on the order or quoted FOB Destination, all orderswill be shipped best way by common carrier based on Mid-Atlantic Tarriffs, Third Party Billing, freight collect, FOB Crawfordsville,IN. All UPS and FEDEX charges will added to invoice and include a carton packaging fee.

FREIGHT CLAIMSLibrary Bureau Steel bookstack is rigidly inspected and packed with care to comply with common carrierrequirements. Customers should protect themselves and the end user from damage by signing freight bill"damaged" and following the instructions shown on shipping labels as standard procedure for filing freightclaims. I.C.C. requirements do not allow refusal of damaged shipments. All claims must be filed with the delivering carrier and are not the responsibility of the shipper unless quoted and sold FOB Destination.

PAYMENT TERMSUnless otherwise specified all invoices are due 30 days from the date of shipment with an additional 1/2%discount if paid within 10 days. Please pay promptly. Orders are processed based on our part numbers notpart description. No back charges for labor are accepted for incorrect materials furnished or late deliveries.
