OELMA Midwinter Conference• Last Saturday, March 9th -- Did anyone go?

– Focus: School Librarian Performance Evaluation Rubric that is being piloted in some school districts across the state.

• Paula Baco has provided a working copy of the rubric (handout)


OELMA Midwinter Conference• Paula says, keep two things in mind:

– This is still an LEA decision to use or not to use this in any way. This is just a model that could be adopted/suggested.

– Midwinter on March 9th will have this as a focus. Many suggestions were made for revisions and much discussion is expected on the 9th.

Collection Development PPT• Developed to help librarians understand

informational text, text complexity, need for weeding, where to find quality resources.

• Previewed at eTech (handout)• PPT available in INFOhio Toolkit under

presentations. There is a two page handout also.


District-level iCoach Proposal• INFOhio is looking for energetic individuals

employed within Ohio school districts to enrich and support the teaching and learning of INFOhio resources while strengthening the technology skills of students, teachers and staff.

• Nomination Process: Interested individuals will be nominated by their ITC Provider with a letter of recommendation speaking to the individuals knowledge and application of INFOhio’s tools and resources with teachers, students and parents.


District-level iCoach ProposalPreferred Qualifications:• Current teaching license and library media

experience preferred as well as experience with effective technology teaching strategies.

• Understanding of key learning theories and methods of instruction, and their relation to technology integration.

• Strong oral and written communication skills.


District-level iCoach ProposalPreferred Qualifications:• Knowledge of Ohio Learning Standards and 21st

century skills environment that encourages creative and independent use of instructional technology.

• Ability to encourage the use of INFOhio resources by staff and students through student-centered, constructivist ways.


District-level iCoach ProposalPreferred Qualifications:• Ability to assist teachers in knowing which INFOhio

electronic resource or interactive tool supports specific educational goals, as well as which ones provide support in using technology effectively on a daily basis.


District-level iCoach Proposal• Certificate will be awarded after 3 webinars are

attended (1 hour each)• Webinars:

– INFOhio - finding all the help resources at your fingertips– INFOhio Resources - using them with teachers and

students– INFOhio Applications - integrating the learning with the

resources


District-level iCoach ProposalExpectations of the District Level ICoach• 1-3 trainings per year in their district• Reporting to INFOhio• Trainings held by District Level ICoach could include

parents


Symphony 3.4.1 Service Pack 3• OCLC altering their numbering effective July 1

(handout from OCLC) – Patch required– Will impact processing of records from WorldCat (via

SmartPort)– Also impact vendor loads when vendors provide records

from OCLC• SirsiDynix to release SP3 in spring / early summer

– INFOhio will apply SP3 to all ITCs in June, but will coordinate with providers

– Will require update to WorkFlows
