NetLibrary is a collection of more than 1000 online books in all subject areas. Also included in NetLibrary is the Project Gutenberg database of over 3,400 books from all historical periods. Books range from works of fiction and other literature to scientific and technical books. Materials are appropriate for students and researchers at all levels.

EDUCATION FULL TEXT Education Full Text provides full

indexing and abstracting of almost 700 education journals and magazines; of these, 284 are available in full text. Subjects covered include all areas of education: K-12, higher education, special education, and adult education. The publications vary from scholarly peer-reviewed journals to more popular education magazines. Thus, the database is useful for persons at all levels of knowledge. Images are in black and white only.

ERIC The Education Resources

Information Center (ERIC) is a digital library of education-related resources, sponsored by the Institute of Education Sciences of the U.S. Department of Education. The ERIC online system provides the public with a centralized ERIC Web site for searching the ERIC bibliographic database of more than 1.1 million citations going back to 1966.

EBSCOhost Premier is a portal to 30 databases providing indexing and abstracting for tens of thousands of scholarly journals, magazines, and reference sources in all areas of study. Many of these databases include full text articles. The academic level of the publications covered varies depending on the database, but the brief descriptions on the opening page will help you

determine whether a particular database is appropriate for you.

JSTOR provides full-text access to more than 300 scholarly journals offering more than 886,000 full-length articles going back to 1838. Here are the subject areas addressed: African American Studies, African Studies, Anthropology, Archeology, Asian Studies, Botany, Ecology, Economics, Education, Finance, Geography, History, Language & Literature, Latin American Studies, Mathematics, Middle East Studies, Philosophy, Political Science, Population Studies, Slavic Studies, Sociology, and Statistics. Updated frequently, JSTOR covers important research articles, reviews, opinion pieces, and other items published in key journals.

Project MUSE is a database consisting of over 300 peer-reviewed scholarly journals, mostly in the arts, humanities, and social sciences, published primarily by small scholarly or university presses. This database is more appropriate for the advanced student or scholar, but lower level undergraduates may also find useful material.

Opposing Viewpoints Resource

Center

Opposing Viewpoints is a full-text database covering issues that are currently being debated in modern society. The database attempts to present a full spectrum of viewpoints on every issue and includes essays especially written for the database, magazine and newspaper articles, statistical information, images, articles from reference books, primary documents, and web sites.

Searchaurus (Grades 1-3)

Searchasaurus contains full-text for more than 50 popular, elementary school magazines. Full-text is also available for over 100 student pamphlets, an encyclopedia and a dictionary. Full-text articles are assigned a reading level indicator (Lexiles).

Teachers can use this database to search by clicking the “Teacher’s Resource” link.

TOPICsearch (Grades 5-12)

This current events database allows researchers to explore social, political & economic issues, scientific discoveries and other popular topics discussed in today?s classrooms. TOPICsearch contains full text for over 92,700 articles from more than 2,500 diverse sources, including more than 1,550 full text periodicals.

This database provides a pull-down menu where you can choose from a list of current events.

Kids Search (Grades K-5)

Kids Search contains full text for over 50 popular, elementary school magazines, over 100 student pamphlets, an encyclopedia and a dictionary.

Students can search a category by clicking a picture.

Junior edition (Grades 6-8)

This periodical database is designed for students in junior high and middle school with access to a variety of indexed and full-text magazines, newspapers and reference books for information on current events, the arts, science, popular culture, health, people, government, history, sports and more.

In “Advance” search you can use more than one “keyword” or search term to find articles. The database uses “Boolean operators” (and, or, not) to retrieve articles.

Primary Search (Grades K-5)

Primary Search provides full text for nearly 70 popular, magazines for elementary school research. All full text articles included in the database are assigned a reading level indicator (Lexiles), and full text information dates as far back as 1990.

This database is also for teachers. It offers under “Refine Search” choices for narrowing the search criteria. This search requested “peer review” articles.

Info Trac junior (Grades K-12)

This periodical database is designed for students in junior high and middle school, with magazines, newspapers and reference books (most are full-text) for information on current events, the arts, science, popular culture, health, people, government, history, sports and more.
