Distribution of ALA Glossary[Phân Phối T. Đ. ALA Tiếng Việt]

On the 12th of June, 1996 I had a meeting with Mr. Phan Gia Ben and his associates to make a list of individuals and libraries in Vietnam in order to distribute the Glossary fairly and effectively. Mr. Nguyen The Duc [Director of VN Natl Library] contacted me by telephone and he agreed to distribute the Glossary to the libraries in northern Vietnam located above Hue. Mr. Phan Gia Ben did the distribution to the libraries from Hue down to the southern part of the country.

On the 20th of June, 1996 at 8:00 AM, Mr. Phan Gia Ben organized a meeting at his headquarters [Federation of Scientific and Technological Associations Ho Chi Minh City] at 43 Nguyen Thong Street, Ho Chi Minh City. He invited me to come and give a talk on the library development especially on library technology and library automation; I also distributed the Glossary to the representatives of the libraries in the southern part of Vietnam

Ngày 12 tháng 6 1996 tôi đã gặp ôngPhan Gia Bền và các cộng sự để soạnthảo danh sách các cá nhân và các thưviện VN để phân phối Tự Điển ALA mộtcách công bằng và hữu dụng. ÔngNguyễn Thế Đức [Giám Đốc TV Quốc Gia VN] đã liên lạc với tôi qua điện thoại vàđã đồng ý phân phối Tự Điển cho các thưviện phía Bắc từ Huế trở ra Bắc. Ô. Phan Gia Bền nhận phân phối cho các TV phíaNam từ Huế trở vào Nam.

Ngày 20 tháng 6 năm 1996 lúc 8 giờsáng, Ô. Phan Gia Bền đã tổ chức buổihọp tại Cơ Quan của ông [Hội Liên HiệpKhoa Học Kỹ Thuật TPHCM], số 43 Nguyễn Thông, TP HCM. Ông đã mời tôiđến dự họp và thuyết trình về vấn đề pháttriển thư viện, đặc biệt là vấn đề áp dụngcông nghệ thông tin và tự động hóa; tôicũng đã phân phối Tự Điển đến các thamdự viên thuộc các thư viện tỉnh, thànhphố tại phía Nam Việt Nam.

Distribution of ALA Glossary[Phân Phối Tự Điển ALA Tiếng Việt]

On the 15th July, 1996, I brought the rest of the books (114 copies) to the National Library and handed them to the Director of the library for distribution. Mr. Nguyen The Duc, Director of the National Library promised to distribute the Glossary fairly and effectively to the needy libraries in the northern part of the country.

The Dewey Decimal Classification debuts in Vietnamese

DUBLIN, Ohio, USA, 22 August 2006—OCLC Online Computer Library Center announces the publication of the Vietnamese translation of the Dewey Decimal Classification and Relative Index, Abridged Edition 14, by the National Library of Vietnam. The new edition was officially launched at a seminar in Hanoi on August 16, at which Assistant Editor Julianne Beallrepresented the Dewey team. This is the first complete translation of an edition of the Dewey Decimal Classification (DDC) into Vietnamese.
