Most are article databases but some contain other types of content Examples

Some are multidisciplinary, others are subject specific

Some are indices (no full text), others have partial to complete full text

Some databases are available district-wide, others are college specific

DATABASES (“THE POOL”) INTERNET (“THE OCEAN”)

Content is selected and controlled No selection criteria for content – anyone can add to the internetQuick and easy, but not necessarily accurate.

Focused on a particular discipline or type of information

Broad sweep of information

Searchable by subject, keyword, author, date and other limits such as full-text or peer-reviewed

Keyword searching is available, but subject categories may be difficult to determine; no peer reviewed or full text limits

Find a link to the database on the library’s webpage

Put mouse over link, right click and select “copy shortcut”

Paste link into BlackBoard

Make sure the beginning of each link starts with https://login.ezp...... (Should be true of all SCC and

MCC databases).

In the record, copy the “link this publication”

Paste the link into BlackBoard
