O.P. Jindal Global University (JGU) is a non-profit global university established by the Government of Haryana and recognised by the University Grants Commission (UGC). JGU was established as a philanthropic initiative of its Founding Chancellor, Mr. Naveen Jindal in memory of his father, Mr. O.P. Jindal. JGU is one of the few universities in Asia that maintains a 1:8 faculty-student ratio and appoints faculty members from India and different parts of the world with outstanding academic qualifications and experience. JGU has made history by breaking into the QS World University Rankings 2020 Edition. In September 2019, JGU was selected as an 'Institution of Eminence' (IOE) by the Government of India, making JGU one of only eight private universities in India to be awarded this status.

t is my great pleasure to welcome you to the Jindal School of Liberal Arts and Humanities (JSLH). As a student in a liberal arts programme you
become an intellectual explorer. The dictionary definition of “explorer” is “...somebody who travels to distant or unfamiliar places to find out more about them.” This is a fairly accurate description of a liberal arts education. As a student in this school of liberal arts and humanities, you can now embark on that journey and ask challenging questions, find out what really matters to you, learn about the world as it is and imagine the world as you think it ought to be.
Foundational courses, such as Mathematics, History, Sociology, Expressive and Creative arts, Literature, languages and writing, are firmly anchored in the liberal arts tradition. Each of these courses will engage you in the practices of inquiry and contemplation, which are the tools necessary for the creation of new knowledge and learning. Teaching methods of liberal education foster self-knowledge and empower the individual to deal with the complexity of our globalized world. These methods include critical thinking, creative problem solving, community engagement and appreciation of diversity, which are embedded in the curriculum and will allow you to become engaged global citizens.
Your years of studies at JSLH will go by very quickly and you will soon find yourself progressing in JSLH or pursuing a study abroad programme with Rollins College, one of the top ranking liberal arts colleges in United States or at Deakin university, Australia. At these partner institutions you will be able to pursue your majors further and explore career possibilities in real-world settings through internships and service learning. While still in India you will have numerous opportunities to meet faculty, staff and students when they visit our Sonipat campus in the coming months. Our exciting third-year syllabi for students completing their degree in JSLH offers much room to develop your interests and aptitudes. Liberal Arts is an innovative pedagogy focused on small classes, close faculty- student engagement and a strong interd isc ip l inary foundat ion wi th specializations in specific subjects. Liberal Arts is about the cultivation of the whole person though rigorous reading and writing, along with active experiential learning inside and outside the classroom. Liberal Arts students graduate with knowledge, a flexible range of skills, aptitudes and a life-long curiosity and love of learning.
WHAT IS LIBERAL ARTS ?
A unique four-year dual-degree program with Rollins College in the United States or Deakin University in Australia, two top liberal arts and humanities colleges. Students pursuing this option would study two years at JSLH and the next two years at leading partner universities. At the end of their studies, they would receive a B.A. (Hons.) in a Liberal Arts from JSLH and a B.A. from collaborated university in a subject of their choice.
A three-year BA (Hons.) in Liberal Arts and Humanities with a possible specialization in eleven areas of the student’s choice and an optional semester study abroad facilitated by JSLH.

Why LIBERAL ARTS ? We believe that the best way to learn is to learn from multiple perspectives. Through nineteen core courses and hundreds of optional courses, students engage in a variety of social science and humanities subjects such as Literature, History, Environmental Studies, Political Science, Expressive Arts, and Philosophy. These courses serve as the foundation of our programme and the jumping off point for further study.
INTERDISCIPLINARY COURSES
EXPERIENTIAL LEARNING We believe in learning by doing. Our classes place an emphasis on discussion, debate, and hands on activities. Many of our courses feature sizable field work to locations around Delhi / NCR and beyond. Past site visits include Sonipat, Chandni Chowk, Lodi Art Colony, Nizamuddin East, Jaipur Literary Festival, Sarnath, Varanasi, Lucknow and Dharamshala.
While most of our students are bilingual, speaking a third language is a tool which is often undervalued? Our students are also required to take a course in Spanish in their first year and have the option to opt for other languages like French, Mandarin and German in the following years.
SELF-DESIGNED MAJOR Students who have a strong academic record and feel that their desired course of study does not fit into these majors may opt for a Self-Designed Major. This major is designed by the student in consultation with two faculty directors of study. The Environment Society aims at making JGU, a green campus. We wish to initiate sustainable alternatives on campus to achieve our goal. In addition to that, we will be working towards creating a sense of awareness with respect to human impact on the environment and thereby change the attitude of students towards sustainability.
THE ENVIRONMENT SOCIETY
The Academic Writing Society (AWS) is established with the intention of promote quality academic writing amongst the students of JGU and to promote reform in the style of writing with a view to deliver publishable articles. AWS will have specific days in a month when guided response will be handed to students registered.
ACADEMIC WRITING SOCIETY
The JGU Sports Society strives to inculcate a strong sporting spirit on campus. It works to promote the sporting culture and promote participation in various sports festivals throughout the country. The main objective of the society is facilitating sportspersons on campus to achieve their full potential and to provide a recreational outlet for all students that lays outside a classroom.

The JGU Theatre Society strives to make a change. The society combines the creative ideas and abilities of all its members to achieve maximum efficiency. Theatre is one of the higher cultural activities that marks us as imaginative and creative.

JPVAS welcomes students of all ages and aptitude, with the society’s current members including photo- graphers from across a vast spectrum of ability, from amateurs to professionals. With an aim to help one another, learn more about photography by meeting and discussing the art with like-minded individuals, developing practical photographic skil ls and techniques, discussing composition and others through practical sessions and critique sessions.

We are an open society that is committed to ensuring that as many people as possible can benefit from our privilege. Our initiatives include teaching children at the Balgram orphanage, the children of the Sodexo staff, and the children at the Rohat primary and secondary school. We also help the members of the Tulip labor colonies with their problems, and the members of the Rohat village with issues relating to governance.

JSLH has active SGRC Events Committee that is constantly planning events and activities which are meant for students to develop both in terms of the mind and the body. Some of them are Animal Welfare Society, Rotract Club, Performing Arts and dance societies.

I can look back and happily say that I know I made the right decision by coming to Jindal and choosing this programme.
The reason JSLH worked well for is that after learning a variety of courses over the foundation period, I was very certain of the decision when it came to choosing my major. Most students feel unsure about this big decision because we have not had enough experience with a lot of subjects prior to college. Liberal Arts gave me the chance of making an informed decision to choose my major and even after that, to choose electives of my interest.
The most important thing about college life, be it at any university, is for a student to be able to learn about himself, the outside world and to be able to say he is happy. Coming into Jindal, I was unsure what the future held but since the first week in I knew I could comfortably call this place my second home. The University offers a variety of sports and competes at a very good level. The classes are very interesting and interactive. Being a student who had not had a lot of motivation or the best experience when it came to academics, I found myself enjoying the courses offered at Jindal. The professors engage in discussions during the classes and teach concepts in a manner that I genuinely found interesting.

Admission Procedure
Education Loans JGU has established tie-ups with AVANSE (ICICI), Dena Bank and Credila (HDFC) to facilitate educational loans for students who are admitted to the B.A. (Hons.) Liberal Arts & Humanities programme.
SCHOLARSHIPS O.P. Jindal Global University awards Merit cum Means Scholarships (MCM) every year. The MCM Scholarship covers the tuition fee only. Scholarship applications will be opened by the University by 1 April and will be awarded to eligible students in July. The eligibility criteria includes annual family income, XII board score, JSAT or standardized examination results and faculty interview score. Weightage will also be given to curricular and non-curricular achievements.

become an intellectual explorer. The dictionary definition of “explorer” is “...somebody who travels to distant or unfamiliar places to find out more about them.” This is a fairly accurate description of a liberal arts education. As a student in this school of liberal arts and humanities, you can now embark on that journey and ask challenging questions, find out what really matters to you, learn about the world as it is and imagine the world as you think it ought to be.
Foundational courses, such as Mathematics, History, Sociology, Expressive and Creative arts, Literature, languages and writing, are firmly anchored in the liberal arts tradition. Each of these courses will engage you in the practices of inquiry and contemplation, which are the tools necessary for the creation of new knowledge and learning. Teaching methods of liberal education foster self-knowledge and empower the individual to deal with the complexity of our globalized world. These methods include critical thinking, creative problem solving, community engagement and appreciation of diversity, which are embedded in the curriculum and will allow you to become engaged global citizens.
Your years of studies at JSLH will go by very quickly and you will soon find yourself progressing in JSLH or pursuing a study abroad programme with Rollins College, one of the top ranking liberal arts colleges in United States or at Deakin university, Australia. Liberal Arts is about the cultivation of the whole person though rigorous reading and writing, along with active experiential learning inside and outside the classroom. Liberal Arts students graduate with knowledge, a flexible range of skills, aptitudes and a life-long curiosity and love of learning.
WHAT IS LIBERAL ARTS ?
A unique four-year dual-degree program with Rollins College in the United States or Deakin University in Australia, two top liberal arts and humanities colleges. Students pursuing this option would study two years at JSLH and the next two years at leading partner universities. At the end of their studies, they would receive a B.A. (Hons.) in a Liberal Arts from JSLH and a B.A. from collaborated university in a subject of their choice.

Why LIBERAL ARTS ? We believe that the best way to learn is to learn from multiple perspectives. Through nineteen core courses and hundreds of optional courses, students engage in a variety of social science and humanities subjects such as Literature, History, Environmental Studies, Political Science, Expressive Arts, and Philosophy. These courses serve as the foundation of our programme and the jumping off point for further study.
INTERDISCIPLINARY COURSES
EXPERIENTIAL LEARNING We believe in learning by doing. Our classes place an emphasis on discussion, debate, and hands on activities. Many of our courses feature sizable field work to locations around Delhi / NCR and beyond. Past site visits include Sonipat, Chandni Chowk, Lodi Art Colony, Nizamuddin East, Jaipur Literary Festival, Sarnath, Varanasi, Lucknow and Dharamshala.
While most of our students are bilingual, speaking a third language is a tool which is often undervalued? Our students are also required to take a course in Spanish in their first year and have the option to opt for other languages like French, Mandarin and German in the following years.

The Environment Society aims at making JGU, a green campus. We wish to initiate sustainable alternatives on campus to achieve our goal. In addition to that, we will be working towards creating a sense of awareness with respect to human impact on the environment and thereby change the attitude of students towards sustainability.
THE ENVIRONMENT SOCIETY
The Academic Writing Society (AWS) is established with the intention of promote quality academic writing amongst the students of JGU and to promote reform in the style of writing with a view to deliver publishable articles. AWS will have specific days in a month when guided response will be handed to students registered.

The JGU Sports Society strives to inculcate a strong sporting spirit on campus. It works to promote the sporting culture and promote participation in various sports festivals throughout the country. We also help the members of the Tulip labor colonies with their problems, and the members of the Rohat village with issues relating to governance.

I can look back and happily say that I know I made the right decision by coming to Jindal and choosing this programme.
The reason JSLH worked well for is that after learning a variety of courses over the foundation period, I was very certain of the decision when it came to choosing my major. Most students feel unsure about this big decision because we have not had enough experience with a lot of subjects prior to college. Liberal Arts gave me the chance of making an informed decision to choose my major and even after that, to choose electives of my interest.
The most important thing about college life, be it at any university, is for a student to be able to learn about himself, the outside world and to be able to say he is happy. Coming into Jindal, I was unsure what the future held but since the first week in I knew I could comfortably call this place my second home. The University offers a variety of sports and competes at a very good level. The classes are very interesting and interactive. Being a student who had not had a lot of motivation or the best experience when it came to academics, I found myself enjoying the courses offered at Jindal. Admission Procedure
Education Loans JGU has established tie-ups with AVANSE (ICICI), Dena Bank and Credila (HDFC) to facilitate educational loans for students who are admitted to the B.A. (Hons.) Liberal Arts & Humanities programme.
SCHOLARSHIPS O.P. Jindal Global University awards Merit cum Means Scholarships (MCM) every year. The MCM Scholarship covers the tuition fee only. Scholarship applications will be opened by the University by 1 April and will be awarded to eligible students in July. The eligibility criteria includes annual family income, XII board score, JSAT or standardized examination results and faculty interview score. Weightage will also be given to curricular and non-curricular achievements.
