Liber Arcanorum Revisum,

sub figura CMIII.

Bethsheba Ashe

(Janette Fraser)

& Aleister Crowley.

When Aleister Crowley wrote Liber Arcanorum in 1907, he could

have arranged its verses according to the correct order of the

letters, but he didn’t as that would have been too great a

giveaway. If he had, the correct value of the letters would have been discovered

by his readers in short order and, quick as a flash, the guts of Liber Al vel Legis

and a goodly amount of the Torah would have been squirming about on the

table for all to see and dissect. However, I believe that if Aleister Crowley had

been born in today’s world, where very few people give a flying fig for the royal

occult secrecy of prior centuries, he might have ventured to set the record

straight and open the doors to the temple a crack wider.

All the great secrets of the mystics cannot be spoken of nor communicated in

any way but in esoteric and symbolic language. What is secret to the Temple will

remain closed to the uninitiated, unready and the unfit. Their quintessential

qualia, or lack thereof are natural barriers that protect themselves without the

need for artificial measures to be employed. Indeed, history has shown us that

such over-fastidiousness in respect of temple secrets only serves to sow the

seeds of doubt, dogma and delusion in the minds of otherwise promising

individuals. It is often the case that right at the very moment a student most

requires clarity from a faithful exposition of the facts to lighten the girders upon

his soul that his teachers fail him by hiding behind the self-serving secrecy of

historical conventions, effectively throwing him to the unchained dogs of reason

that ride him ramshackle and unhinged straight to the county sanatorium.

I am against all kinds of artificial secrecy and contrived measures to hide matters

that the modern human beings of today’s world cannot be harmed by. To quote

our good book “It is a lie, this folly against self. The exposure of innocence is a

lie.” So I turn my face away from this folly and attempt to lay the matter out

plainly to my readers. I say “Here are the keys. Do with them as ye will” and no-

one has come to any harm whatsoever from their knowledge.

Liber Arcanorum is a Class A text, and so I expect that some will object to its

reordering below, but if they do so they shall willfully misunderstand the intent

of the classification. It is so people who are without knowledge of the keys to

the system do not inadvertently screw it up for everyone else through their

ignorance.

Some proofs are in order to demonstrate the following arrangement is the

correct one. Besides my works “The Genesis Wheel” and “The Hermeneutics of

Aleister Crowley” I add the following solutions/observations:

“I am The Empress & the Hierophant. Thus eleven, as my bride is eleven.” ~ Liber

AL vel Legis 1:16.

Check down this ordering of the Major Arcarnum (below) to find that The

Empress is card 4 and the Hierophant is card 7, hence 4 + 7 = 11.

Each of the cards of the Major Arcana is given one of the 22 letters of the

Hebrew alephbet. The spirits of these letters occupy the world of Beriah. In

traditional Kabbalah they were believed to be used by Elohim to create the

heavens and the earth. The correspondences of the Cards are to the Seven

Palaces of the world of Yetzirah (Formation). They follow the same arrangement

as Genesis 1-2 and each one is symbolic of an aspect of the macrocosm. The

Tree of Life represents the microcosmic perspective of the Yetziratic world by an

individual that is subject to time in the world of Assiah (Action).

Atziluth – the realm of Elohim; formless and ineffable. Nothing may be

said of it.

Beriah – the realm of the creation and the abode of the spirits of the

letters; aka angels.

3

Yetzirah – the realm of formation; where the Seven Palaces of the

Heavens and the Earth are made by Elohim using the spirits of the

letters.

Assiah – the realm of action; where the limited perspective of the

individual who is subject to time appreciates the realm of Yetzirah as the

Tree of life.

This is a schematic of the Seven Palaces;

Note that the verse for the Empress in Liber Arcanorum refers to the Place of the

Daleth (left) when it says “and seeketh Seventy to her Four”. Daleth is 4 and the

letter Ayin is a connecting path with the value of 70. Therefore this is evidence

that Liber Arcanorum bears its correspondences to the Seven Palaces in the

world of Yetzirah, rather than to the Tree of Life which has no such arrangement.

4

Each verse below shows the Card Number and Name, followed by its Palace or

Path with its gematria in (brackets). Then the verse from Liber Arcanorum is

given, and to give you a chance to compare, it is followed by the verse or verses

from Genesis 1-2 that also pertain to each letter, palace or path. Much of the

traditional symbolism of the Major Arcana cards is related to Genesis in some

way or to the symbolism of the individual letters.

Well - that’s the practical Kabbalistic aspect of the keys in a nutshell.

The rest of the initiation is up to you.

-----------------------------

0 The Magus

The Palace of Beth (2) ~ The Home of Elohim.

The lightnings increased and the Lord Tahuti stood forth. The Voice came from

the Silence. Then the One ran and returned.

In the beginning created Elohim the heavens and the earth. Now the earth was

unformed and void, and darkness was upon the face of the deep; and the spirit of

Elohim hovered over the face of the waters.

---

1 The Fool

The Palaces of Aleph (1) ~ Day and Night.

A, the heart of IAO, dwelleth in ecstasy in the secret place of the thunders.

Between Asar and Asi he abideth in joy.

And said Elohim: ‘Let there be light.’ And there was light. And Elohim saw the

light, that it was good; and Elohim divided the light from the darkness. And

Elohim called the light Day, and the darkness He called Night.

5

---

2 The Priestess

The Path of Gimel (3) ~ Sky.

Now hath Nuit veiled herself, that she may open the gate of her sister.

And said Elohim: ‘Let there be an expanse in the midst of the waters, and let it

divide the waters from the waters.’ And made Elohim the expanse, and divided

the waters which were under the expanse from the waters which were above the

expanse; and it was so. And called Elohim the expanse Heaven.

---

3 The Aeon

The Path of Shin (3) ~ Heat/Fire/Dry land.

Then also the Pyramid was builded so that the Initiation might be complete.

And said Elohim: ‘Let the waters under the heaven be gathered together unto

one place, and let the dry land appear.’ And it was so. And called Elohim the dry

land Earth, and the gathering together of the waters called He Seas; and Elohim

saw that it was good.

---

4 The Empress

The Palaces of Daleth (4) ~ Doors between the heavens and the earth.

The Virgin of Elohim is enthroned upon an oyster-shell; she is like a pearl, and

seeketh Seventy to her Four. In her heart is Hadit the invisible glory.

And said Elohim: ‘Let the earth put forth grass, herb yielding seed, and fruit-tree

bearing fruit after its kind, wherein is the seed thereof, upon the earth.’ And it

was so. And the earth brought forth grass, herb yielding seed after its kind, and

6

tree bearing fruit, wherein is the seed thereof, after its kind; and saw Elohim that

it was good.

---

5 The Universe

The Path of Tav (4) ~ Time.

And in the heart of the Sphinx danced the Lord Adonai, in His garlands of roses

and pearls making glad the concourse of things; yea, making glad the concourse

of things.

And said Elohim: ‘Let there be lights in the firmament of the heaven to divide the

day from the night; and let them be for signs, and for seasons, and for days and

years; and let them be for lights in the firmament of the heaven to give light upon

the earth.’ And it was so. And Elohim made the two great lights: the greater light

to rule the day, and the lesser light to rule the night;

---

6 The Star

The Palace and Path of Heh (5) ~ Light.

Now riseth Ra-Hoor-Khuit, and dominion is established in the Star of the Flame.

He made the stars also. And Elohim set them in the firmament of the heaven to

give light upon the earth, and to rule over the day and over the night, and to

divide the light from the darkness; and Elohim saw that it was good.

---

7 The Hierophant

The Path of Vav (6) ~ Birds and Fish.

Also is the Star of the Flame exalted, bringing benediction to the universe.

7

And said Elohim: ‘Let the waters swarm with swarms of living creatures, and let

fowl fly above the earth in the open firmament of heaven.’ And Elohim created

the great sea-monsters, and every living creature that creepeth, wherewith the

waters swarmed, after its kind, and every winged fowl after its kind; and saw

Elohim that it was good. And blessed Elohim them, saying: ‘Be fruitful, and

multiply, and fill the waters in the seas, and let fowl multiply in the earth.

---

8 The Lovers

The Path of Zayin (7) ~ Beasts and Bugs.

Here then beneath the winged Eros is youth, delighting in the one and the other.

He is Asar between Asi and Nepthi; he cometh forth from the veil.

And said Elohim: ‘Let the earth bring forth the living creature after its kind, cattle,

and creeping thing, and beast of the earth after its kind.’ And it was so. And

made Elohim the beast of the earth after its kind, and the cattle after their kind,

and everything that creepeth upon the ground after its kind; and saw Elohim that

it was good.

---

9 The Chariot ~ Adam the Overseer.

The Path of Cheth (8)

He rideth upon the chariot of eternity; the white and the black are harnessed to

his car. Therefore he reflecteth the Fool, and the sevenfold veil is reveiled.

And said Elohim: ‘Let us make man in our image, after our likeness; and let them

have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the

cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon

the earth.’ And Elohim created man in His own image, in the image of Elohim

created He him; male and female created He them. And Elohim blessed them;

and Elohim said unto them: ‘Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth,

8

and subdue it; and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of

the air, and over every living thing that creepeth upon the earth.’

---

10 Lust

The Path of Teth (9) ~ Food / Sustenance.

Also came forth mother Earth with her lion, even Sekhet, the lady of Asi.

And said Elohim: ‘Behold, I have given you every herb yielding seed, which is upon

the face of all the earth, and every tree, in which is the fruit of a tree yielding

seed—to you it shall be for food; and to every beast of the earth, and to every

fowl of the air, and to everything that creepeth upon the earth, wherein there is a

living soul, [I have given] every green herb for food.’ And it was so. And Elohim

saw everything that He had made, and, behold, it was very good.

---

11 The Hermit

The Path of Yod (10) ~ Rest from work.

Also the Priest veiled himself, lest his glory be profaned, lest his word be lost in

the multitude.

And the heaven and the earth were finished, and all the host of them. And on the

seventh day Elohim finished His work which He had made; and He rested on the

seventh day from all His work which He had made. And Elohim blessed the

seventh day, and hallowed it; because that in it He rested from all His work which

Elohim in creating had made.

---

12 The Wheel

The Path of Kaph (20) ~ Fertility.

9

Now then the Father of all issued as a mighty wheel; the Sphinx, and the dog-

headed Elohim, and Typhon, were bound on his circumference.

These are the generations of the heaven and of the earth when they were

created, in the day that the YHVH Elohim made earth and heaven. No shrub of

the field was yet in the earth, and no herb of the field had yet sprung up; for the

YHVH Elohim had not caused it to rain upon the earth, and there was not a man

to till the ground; but there went up a mist from the earth, and watered the

whole face of the ground.

---

13 Adjustment

The Path of Lamed (30) ~ Neshamah, Ruach & Nephesh.

Also the lady Maat with her feather and her sword abode to judge the righteous.

For Fate was already established.

Then the YHVH Elohim formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into

his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.

---

14 The Hanged Man

The Path of Mem (40) ~ Pregnancy.

Then the holy one appeared in the great water of the North; as a golden dawn

did he appear, bringing benediction to the fallen universe.

And the YHVH Elohim planted a garden eastward, in Eden; and there He put the

man whom He had formed.

---

15 Death

The Path of Nun (50) ~ Life & the afterlife.

10

Also Asar was hidden in Amennti; and the Lords of Time swept over him with the

sickle of death.

And out of the ground made the YHVH Elohim to grow every tree that is pleasant

to the sight, and good for food; the tree of life also in the midst of the garden,

and the tree of the knowledge of good and evil.

---

16 Art

The Path of Samekh (60) ~ Shekinah / the heavenly river that flows to earth.

And a mighty angel appeared as a woman, pouring vials of woe upon the flames,

lighting the pure stream with her brand of cursing. And the iniquity was very

great.

And a river went out of Eden to water the garden; and from thence it was parted,

and became four heads. The name of the first is Pishon; that is it which

compasseth the whole land of Havilah, where there is gold; and the gold of that

land is good; there is bedellium and the onyx stone. And the name of the second

river is Gihon; the same is it that compasseth the whole land of Cush. And the

name of the third river is a Tigris; that is it which goeth toward the east of

Asshur. And the fourth river is the Euphrates.

---

11

17 The Devil

The Path of Ayin (70) ~ Temptation of mortality & the flesh.

Then the Lord Khem arose, He who is holy among the highest, and set up his

crowned staff for to redeem the universe.

And the YHVH Elohim took the man, and put him into the garden of Eden to dress

it and to keep it. And the YHVH Elohim commanded the man, saying: ‘Of every

tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat; but of the tree of the knowledge of

good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it; for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou

shalt surely die.’

---

18 The Tower

The Path of Peh (80) ~ Courtship & Mating.

He smote the towers of wailing; he brake them in pieces in the fire of his anger,

so that he alone did escape from the ruin thereof.

And the YHVH Elohim said: ‘It is not good that the man should be alone; I will

make him a help meet for him.’ And out of the ground the YHVH Elohim formed

every beast of the field, and every fowl of the air; and brought them unto the

man to see what he would call them; and whatsoever the man would call every

living creature, that was to be the name thereof. And the man gave names to all

cattle, and to the fowl of the air, and to every beast of the field; but for Adam

there was not found a help meet for him.

12

19 The Emperor

The Path of Tsade (90) ~ Childbirth1

Transformed, the holy virgin appeared as a fluidic fire, making her beauty into a

thunderbolt.

And the YHVH Elohim caused a deep sleep to fall upon the man, and he slept; and

He took one of his ribs, and closed up the place with flesh instead thereof. And

the rib, which the YHVH Elohim had taken from the man, made He a woman, and

brought her unto the man2.

1 Emperor Caesar was fabled to be born by C-section, thus giving it his name.

2 According to Kabbalists, Eve was the first “child” to be born.

13

20 The Moon

The Path of Qoph (100) ~ Soul / Marriage.

By her spells she invoked the Scarab, the Lord Kheph-Ra, so that the waters were

cloven and the illusion of the towers was destroyed.

And the man said: ‘This is now bone of my bones, and flesh of my flesh; she shall

be called Woman, because she was taken out of Man.’

21 The Sun

The Path of Resh (200) ~ Spirit / Solar Jouney.

Then the sun did appear unclouded, and the mouth of Asi was on the mouth of

Asar.

14

Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his

wife, and they shall be one flesh. And they were both naked, the man and his

wife, and were not ashamed.
