HD – High-definition television, (HDTV) is a new standard ofTV with better-quality picture and sound. HDTV brings youcloser to the action, offering more colours and a higher resolution picture similar to what you'd see at a cinema.

LED – LG LED TVs produce a sharper, more detailed picturewith a superior contrast as well as an ultra slim design compared to LCD TVs. LED TVs have tiny lights either aroundthe edge of the TV (known as Edge LED) or directly behindthe TV (known as Full LED).

WHAT IS 3D?3D technology is filmed using two separate images withtwo standard definition cameras. They act like a pair ofeyes, focusing on the left and right angle of the image.The images from both cameras are edited and convertedinto a three dimensional image. LG offers two types of 3D technology:

1. PASSIVEThis is similar to what you would experience in the cinemawhilst watching a 3D movie. They use polarised glasses todisplay a different image to each eye by only letting in thecorrect image intended for the left and right eye.

2. ACTIVEActive TV sets use special LCD shutter glasses which are activated by the emitter built inside the TV. The glasseshouse much of the 3D technology in the glasses themselvesand therefore make them significantly more expensive.

WHAT CAN I VIEW IN 3D?Currently there is a limited amount of 3D content availablebut that is all set to change. Sky will launch a dedicated3D channel in autumn 2010 to bring more fantastic 3D viewing to enhance your home entertaiment viewing experience.

To turn on the glasses press the on button and wait for theglasses to synchronize with the transmitters built insidethe TV set which provides you with up to 40 hours of uninterrupted viewing.

GLASSES FOR PASSIVE TV SETSGlasses for the passive TVsets are simple, light andeasy to use. They do not

require to be charged and can just be put on. Oneimportant point to consider is the cost of replacing brokenor lost 3D glasses. Active glasses will cost more thanpassive glasses due to the additional technology they use.
