I have included it in this cover letter because it showcases many of the qualities I believe I hold as an individual; qualities which are invaluable in any work environment. During the beginning of my junior year, an issue occurred in which the professor of a class I was taking began arbitrarily handing out grades, having failed to adequately keep track of her grades and lesson plans. Despite the inherent difficulty of getting a grade from a professor overturned by the department, I organized the other members of the class into a coalition and over a period of weeks met with Dr. Faulk and others in an effort to receive the grades we thought we deserved. We learned the rules and laws which could help us throughout the process, and we presented our case to the faculty. We were able to reach a compromise with the professor in question, and with the addition of a homework assignment our grades were changed and updated. I went from a D- to a B+. That experience is reflective of who I am and what I can bring to a team: Patience, Confidence, Diligence, Courage, Leadership, Respect, and Understanding. I was extremely humbled to know that Dr. Faulk felt as positively as he did about his interactions with me in a difficult and stressful time. I hope that you, the employee reading this, will think that I am the kind of person you would like to share a workplace with. My resumé is attached. Please feel free to contact me at your earliest convenience. Thank you for your time and consideration, and with heartfelt pride, Sam Gabriel Levine FSU Class of 2016

This is an email, reprinted with permission, which I received from Dr. Barry Faulk, the Chair of Florida

State’s English Department. I have included it in this cover letter because it showcases many of the qualities I

believe I hold as an individual; qualities which are invaluable in any work environment. During the beginning

of my junior year, an issue occurred in which the professor of a class I was taking began arbitrarily handing out

grades, having failed to adequately keep track of her grades and lesson plans.

Despite the inherent difficulty of getting a grade from a professor overturned by the department, I

organized the other members of the class into a coalition and over a period of weeks met with Dr. Faulk and

others in an effort to receive the grades we thought we deserved. We learned the rules and laws which could

help us throughout the process, and we presented our case to the faculty. We were able to reach a compromise

with the professor in question, and with the addition of a homework assignment our grades were changed and

updated. I went from a D- to a B+.

That experience is reflective of who I am and what I can bring to a team: Patience, Confidence,

Diligence, Courage, Leadership, Respect, and Understanding. I was extremely humbled to know that Dr. Faulk

felt as positively as he did about his interactions with me in a difficult and stressful time. I hope that you, the

employee reading this, will think that I am the kind of person you would like to share a workplace with. My

resumé is attached. Please feel free to contact me at your earliest convenience.

Thank you for your time and consideration, and with heartfelt pride,

Sam Gabriel Levine
