Leventhorpe School Case study Leventhorpe School in Sawbridgeworth is an all boys secondary school, awarded Ofsted outstanding status in 2012. The school is committed to pursue excellence in all fields of endeavour. They aim to gain commitment from all in support of its development, and engender respect between all members of its community and for the environment. Delivery Following a lively, interactive presentation, the pupils worked in small groups to start drafting the statements. Thomas Education consultants and teaching staff from the school were on hand to answer questions from the students and offer advice on how to get started. The students were provided with: Personal statement mind map Personal statement worksheet CV template Key points to cover Dos and don’ts when writing your personal statement or CV At the end of the morning, the students had made good progress and had prepared the framework. They felt confident in knowing what was expected of them and how to take it forward to the next stage. Programme Working closely with the school Careers Advisor and Head of Sixth form, our team devised a morning programme for 150 pupils to help them understand the importance of writing a good CV and personal statement. The aim of the session was to enable students to identify their key strengths, skills and experiences for inclusion, with examples; start writing their own CV or personal statement using the framework provided; and know how to make a positive and convincing impression of themselves as potential university students.
