Level 4 Grading Sheet Vault Variation & Flow Kash A vault over an obstacle. It is the combination of a kong and a dash. Entry of the movement is the kong technique, but halfway through you pull your chest back and exit the movement in “dash” form. Lazy Vault and Thief Vault A vault parallel to an obstacle. Inside hand contacts obstacle first, and either foot can jump off the ground. The foot that takes off dictates whether it is a thief or a lazy vault. The Lazy vault you take off from your outside leg; the thief is your inside leg. In both cases you will land on your opposite foot and switch hands behind your back. Speed Vault A very quick vault over an obstacle. Inside hand plants, inside leg takes off and same leg lands first on the ground. Turn Vault A vault in which you go from one side of an obstacle to the other, usually a railing, and land still holding on. Useful for minimizing the impact from a drop. Vaulting a Bar or Railing The same vaults from previous levels, but done on a bar or railing. Technique for the vaults should not be altered. Kong to Cat A kong vault that ends in a cat position before you touch the ground. A vault on an obstacle and landing in a “cat” position on a wall. Cast Vault Holding a hip catch position on the bar, cast away from the bar and use the momentum to vault forwards over the bar. Vault to Vault Combining two vaults back to back, landing on the ground in between them. Maintain momentum and power between the transition of one movement to the next. Tac Vaults A vault where you are using a tac as your takeoff point. Tac off an obstacle and proceed to vault an obstacle. Drop Back Using Knees on Bar From a sitting position on a bar, fall backwards and hold onto the bar with your knees and hands. Cartwheel A movement where each hand and foot is placed individually on the ground in sequential order. Hands place individually one after the other, legs kick up over your head and then land individually one after the other. Handstands An inverted “standing” position. Your hands are holding you up, and your feet are the highest point of your body. Extremely useful to use a wall when practicing. Start by facing away from the wall and walk your feet up, don’t kick them up.
