Saatkamp, Jr. President Stockton University 101 Vera King Farris Drive Galloway, New Jersey 08205-9441 Dear President Saatkamp: I am writing to request your appearance before the Senate Budget and Appropriations Committee next Thursday, April 30, at 10:00 A.M. when the committee will be reviewing the Governor’s FY 2016 budget recommendation for higher education. As you are aware, your recent initiative to establish a satellite campus in Atlantic City on the grounds of the former Showboat Casino has garnered a lot of attention in the press. As chairman of the budget committee, I am interested in hearing more about this proposal. In particular, I would like to know whether you were aware, while you were negotiating the contract with Showboat, that its parent corporation (Caesars) was in the process of filing for bankruptcy and would do so less than 30 days later. As I write, I am informed that you have tendered your resignation, effective later this year. Regardless of this recent development, I would still ask that you attend next Thursday’s budget hearing because I believe that your input and your vision for Stockton University going forward are invaluable. Thank you for your consideration and I look forward to hearing from you in the near future. Very truly yours, Paul Sarlo
