    Needed

    lined paper, one sheet for each participant

    pencils or pens, one for each participant

    letter-size mailing envelopes, one for each participant

    Activity StepsInform the part IcIpants that they will be writing a letter to themselves. In this letter,they must list three changes they intend to make in the next three to six months to demonstrate asense of local and/or global citizenship (for example, encourage my family to recycle all recyclablehousehold materials, pick up garbage in the school playground, write a letter to the local govern-ment representative about a local issue, walk or bike to school as often as possible).

    provIde each par t IcIpant with a sheet of paper, a pen or pencil, and an envelope. Then,

    invite them to begin writing. When they have completed their letters, ask the participants to placetheir letters in the envelopes provided. They should then address their envelopes.

    ask the par t IcIpants to seal their envelopes and hand them in. Tell them you will mailtheir letters to them in three to six months. When they receive their letters, they can check to seewhether they have kept their commitments.

    Conclude by inviting the participants to join you in prayer. Pray that each of us will do our partto be faithful global citizens. Pray that all people come to recognize their role in creating a betterworld. pray that the participants will meet the goals they have set out for themselves during this

    activity.
