June 15, 2014 I am pleased to write a letter of recommendation on behalf of Mr. Jonathan Albert. July 3, 2013 through June 30, 2014 Mr. Albert was a member of Team Z-Man: A team of students who worked with my son. His program is funded by the State of Maryland’s Developmental Disabilities Administration and a local non- profit agency; Community Support Services Inc. Mr. Albert first applied for this challenging position as a volunteer and provided me with excellent references. He came to this position having had no prior experience working with people with developmental disabilities. He impressed me with his enthusiasm, positive attitude, and ease in relating to a non-verbal individual with challenging behaviors. Mr. Albert was required to participate in a rigorous and demanding training program which included training in Applied Behavior Analysis, and the use of Augmentative Communication (American Sign Language and Voice Output Device). He was required to have current documentation of CPR and First Aid. Through my recommendation as my son’s Parent Coordinator Jonathan was required to undergo a background check and was then hired as permanent staff by Community Support Services, Inc. in the position of Community Support Associate for my son. While continuing as a full time student at UMBC Mr. Albert worked with my son in the evenings and on weekends while teaching him communication, typing, reading, and computer skills and independence in daily living skills. He was an excellent mentor in the local gym as he worked with my son using the weight machines, and teaching my son to generalize social skills within the community. Mr. Albert was required to attend weekly Team meetings and was creative when providing his input with regards to current programming and changing issues for the future. I found Mr. Albert dedicated and sincere in his commitment to my son and the Team. He was patient and even tempered. I commend Mr. Albert for his professionalism and hard work and wish him the best. I can say without hesitation that Mr. Albert will be an asset to your program. Team-Z Supervisor
