DearNorwalkPublicSchoolEmployees,Staff,Parents,StudentsandCommunityMembers;IamveryexcitedtobewritingthislettertoyouasthenewlyappointedChiefOperationsOfficerfortheNorwalkPublicSchools. Overthecourseofthenextfewmonths,IlookforwardtolearningmoreabouttheNorwalkPublicSchools,ourstaff,studentsandcommunitymembers.MyroleastheChiefOperatingOfficer(COO)hasmanyresponsibilities. TheCOOpositionoverseesallbudgetandfinancialresponsibilitiesoftheNorwalkPublicSchoolsaswellasthemaintenenceandfacilities,transportation,humanresources,foodserviceandtechnology(communication)departments. IcometoyouastheformerSuperintendentofRegionalSchoolDistrictNo.6whichservesthetownsofWarren,MorrisandGoshen,Connecticut. InadditiontomylastpositionasSuperintendent,Ihaveadiversebackgroundwhichincludesbeingavarsitycoach,teacher,SchoolBusinessManager,AssistantPrincipalandPrincipal. Themeasureofoursuccessandexcellencewillstartwithourstaffandallofthememberswhoservethechildrenofthisgreatdistrict. WithNorwalksstrongfoundationofexcellence,Iamconfidentmyleadershipandteamapproachwillcontinuetodeveloptheoutstandingvisionandhumancapitalofthisdistrict.
ThegoalIhaveformyselfistohelpleadtheNorwalkPublicSchoolDistricttoberecognizedasanationalmodelofexcellenceinourpersonneldepartment,fiscaloperations,facilitiesmanagementandoverall educationalenvironment. Throughproactiveinitiatives,suchasEmployeeProfessionalWorkingCommunities,wecanempowerourfaculty,staffandallemployeestocreateanevengreaterpositiveworkingenvironmentwhichwillleadtogreaterstudentachievement.Inclosing,Itakegreatprideinmycommitmenttotheemployeesneedsandtheirworkingenvironment. Apublicschooldistrictshouldbeaninvitingplacewherepositive,lifelongexperiencesaremadeandusedasthefoundationfortherestofourlives. IamexcitedtobeworkingwithSuperintendentMarksandheradministrativeteamtohelpfosterthistypeofworkingandfiscallyresponsibleenvironment.Ihaveattachedasurveyseekingyourinputonwhatyoubelievepromotesapositiveworking/learningenvironment.
