Dear Nr. Rowden:
California is facing a critical energy supplysituation this summer with drought conditionsseverely limiting hydroelectric energy supplies. The Diablo Canyon LNuclear Power Plant on the centralcoast of California will be critically needed. tosupplement anticipated limited electrical supplies.Nithout the added capacity of Diablo Canyon, weface the possibility of brown outs and black outsbecause of limited alternate electrical sources.
Xt is imperative that Diablo Canyon be allowed togo into operation. l trust that every considerationwill be given and the Diablo Canyon Power Plant willbe n line as soon as possible.

Oear Plr. Rowden:
This past week the San Luis Obispo County Board ofSupervisors passed a resolution urging the early operation oPOiablo Canyon Nuclear Power Plant. Enclosed is a. capy
oP'he
next days'ditorial ~ The Board's decision uas not rep-resentative as is pointed out ~ Last year they declined makinoa decision pertaining to Oiablo on grounds they weren'"qualified" to make such decisions~ regarding safe@y, etc ~
I hope these aren't the only people you will 1'isten to.I would like to have believed that people in their posit'onswould have consciences and that you will,. too in deciding thePuture of this most dangerous plant. No amount of moneyalready inv sted can possibly make up Por the fact that theHosgri fault capable oP an 8.0 quake is about 2 miles of fshore ~
This was an extremely poor choice of sites as it turns out.Now in Naine, a construction permit has been denied due toa fault. And what's the whole story behind the
Rumanian'uclearcenter due to their recent earthquake'?
I believe people are waking up to the fact that nuclearpower is no longer needed considering the hazards. I believethis country will see a growing movement oP anti-nuclearpeople who will act on their consciences and Oiablo will mostcertainly be a place Por attention to be focused. F or aslong as I live near by ' will continue to do all I can toinform the public oP the dangers and to orevent the operationoP Oiablo
I urge you to consider all of life when your decisionabout Oiablo is made. I hope I uon't be Porced to leave myhome here iP this plant does operate.

Ue are very concerned about the availability of
electricity for our a.gricultural needs this summer.
Xt seems paradoxical to us the,t government appears
to be rushing in to help out in many areas affected by
the drought; and yet it is the agencies of that same
government that are delaying the opening of the Diablo
Canyon Power Plant that would do so much to increase
available suppl'es oz electricity t'.".is sum™er.

Gentlemen:
T am w . j tine th'I's letter wJ,th x'ega d to PC'&E ' Diab oCanyon Nuclear Power Plant near San Luis Obispo.
To my understanding the government agencies involved instudying the seism'nfluence and environmental impact are noe.in the least bit extending themselves to complete tne study in.order to ezpedite the operation of this plant in the even theresorts are favorable. We rice farmers; as well as other agri-culturalists, would like to point out to you that, because ofthe drought, more and deeper wells are heing drilled in orderto save the crops. These wells are electrically run and un-fortunately, the conventional generating facilities depend onsteam generator or snow and ra'nfull runoff from tho moun ains,,Hence, the less water there is in mountain res rvoi™s, th greaterthe demand for more elect icity. lt would appear to me hat themost logical thing to do is expedite any reports.
Z would stronglv recommend that you take any stepsnecessary to hasten the agencies working on these studies todeclare wh ther or not it is safe to ope a e the plant and to ma!:eany decision as far as environmentalists ar concerned, so that theplant can open as soon as possible. X would also strongly urgethat vou consider the farmer and the ma",ority of the people whobene it from the farmer's products rather than any one group ofpeople.
Very truly yours,OAKS TOWN & COUNTRY, INC.

Gentlemen:
In view of the serious nature of our drought and water shortagein California, we believe every step should be taken to replacethe electric power lost from the Hydro. Electric Plants throughout the Western United States.
Ve know the Utility Companies are making every endeavor tosupply additional electric power during our peak months. Viththis in mind we suggest you use your office to expedite thecompletion and use of the Diablo Canyon Power Plant near SanLuis Obispo.
California Agriculture uses tremendous amounts of energy andif we are to supply foodstuffs in sufficient quantities and atfavorable prices we need this electric power.
Thank you for your consideration.

Dear Sirss
As a farmer in the central valley ofCalifornia I must deal first hand with the drought. With the addition of new and deeper wells theanticipated lesser runoff for hydroelectric powerwill not be sufficient to meet our present
