Where to start

• Know your audience especially their pocketbook• Look for a publisher who will work with you• Spend as little out of pocket as possible• Read the contract carefully-don’t trust anyone• Do self promotion• Don’t expect to be a millionaire unless you are

writing smut novels• Document all sites and sources utilized

Illustrations

• For fiction-locate a young talented artist who will not cost you an arm and/or leg-great publicity for both of you

• For nonfiction-check out museums and similar sites where the costs will be minimal…go to the original family for permission as a last resort.
