Henry’s tragic spill
One day Olivia the owl was flying to go see her friend, when suddenly she flew straight into the
mean spiders cob web. She was flying so fast, that when she hit it her momentum didn’t even slow
down. By time she got the cob webs out of her eye she had know time to stop before she slammed
into a tree. Luckily she was perfectly fine. The tree was an outside force, or change in motion, that
made her come to a sudden stop.
3
Then, all of a sudden the ground started to shake. Olivia was terrified that an earthquake
had begun, but nope, it was just a friend coming to her rescue. Elisabeth had such a great mass the she caused the ground to
move as she got closer to Olivia.
4
Finally, the ground stopped shaking, which means, Elisabeth is here! But then,
BOOM! Elisabeth had been running so fast that no force could stop her. She
knocked down tree after tree, until the friction was strong enough to bring her
to a halt.
5
Both Olivia, and Elisabeth had spills today. But because of a great guy named Newton,
and his Laws, they are in perfect shape!
Thanks Newton!
6
Gina is always trying
new things.
Gina, the giraffe was also going to meet up with Olivia and Elisabeth, when she found some
turtles skating. She decided she wanted to try, so she did. The turtles thought she was silly for
trying, cause everyone knows giraffes can’t skate like turtles, but they let her try anyway. You’d think she would have fell as soon as she
started, but nope she was actually pretty good.
7
Then the turtles thought she going to slow so they pushed her down the hill!
She started to accelerate, and she got so fast that nothing could, or would stop her. Finally, she began to slow down cause of
the friction of the rocks she started to hit.
8
After all the turtles came down, which took less time, because their mass was so much less, they stopped way faster. They
all started laughing, and the turtles let her have the skates. So Gina went to meet up
with the rest of the group to tell them about her crazy ride!
9
When Gina got to the group she told them about what
happen, and of course Olivia, being the smartest out of them all, said it was the
perfect example of Newton’s second Law!
10
Tina the turtle
Now that the hole gang is back together, it’s time to discus the 3rd law. For every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction. And
Tina. The turtle is a friend that knows all about this law.
11
Now Tina is on here way to see the group, when hears a group of animals
cheering! She went to them to find what was going on, when she saw a tug-of-war
going on. It was only one dog, and one cat. She was so excited to see the third law in action that she went to get the
group.
12
By the time they got there, there were jungle cats, and they were
playing playing against all different animals. The group was so excited to see the last law in action. Now they have learned all of the laws, having
more fun than ever.
13
They had a great day learning about Newton’s Laws of motion. Now it’s time
to take everyone home and sleep..

Glossary Force- Something that changes a person or thing’s motion (movement) or state of rest (sitting still). Mass-The amount of matter in a person or thing. Acceleration-When you change direction or speed. Inertia-The resistance (not wanting to do) of an object to move when at rest /motion. Velocity-Both the speed and direction of an object’s motion. Friction-A force that tries to stop things from moving.(The rougher the surface the more friction.) Momentum-The amount of motion affecting an object (person or thing).
LAWS OF MOTION
FIRST LAW: An object at rest will remain at rest unless acted on by an unbalanced force. An object in motion continues in motion with the same
speed and in the same direction unless acted upon by an unbalanced force.
SECOND LAW: Acceleration is produced when a force acts on a mass. The greater the mass (of the object being accelerated) the greater the amount of
force needed (to accelerate the object).
THIRD LAW: For every action there is an equal and opposite re-action.

All about Newton’s fun laws! In this book you will learn about Newton and his
laws of motion. You will read a story about friends who use these laws in their daily lives. You will learn the three laws Newton created a
long time ago. Not only will you learn new facts, but have fun while doing it!
