Lethal Bizzle-Pow (2011) PLOT The music video is all about a gang robbing a vault full of money when the police are watching them. Lethal Bizzle plays the lookout for the gang on a roof top and the rest of the video continues on the path of following the gang and the police in there attempts to out wit each other and the police interrogation of one of the suspects. The video flicks between the story of the robbery and the rappers involved lip syncing/rapping. The lyrics do sometimes match the goings on of the video, for example, when JME says 'you'll get an elbow drop' he does appear to be jumping to the ground with his elbow. Also, when chipmunk says 'paper', meaning money, he rubs his fingers together. This doesn't only just match the specific action happening at this moment of the video, but also matches the whole theme of the music video (Bank Robbery).

Lethal Bizzle-Pow (2011)PLOTThe music video is all about a gang robbing a vault full of money when the police are watching them.

The genre of the music video is without a doubt 'grime' due to several reasons. One of these being the mise-en-scene within the music video. Apart from the bank, all the people involved seem to be in the streets of London. The shots seem to be quite raw and are very dark, with greyish backgrounds, which definitely suit the usual grime genre video style. Remaining on the topic of mise-en-scene, the costumes are the biggest indicator that it is of the grime genre. The artists being in black hoodies and hats and simply, police officers in their uniform

GENRE CHARACTERISTICS

The typical characteristics for a hip hop and rap music video are a lots of shots of the artist or artists who are hanging around with sexy girls wearing small amounts of clothing driving fast cars in big houses with lots of jewelry on and other shows of wealth. In Lethal Bizzle’s video it’s completely different as it’s more of a story video where as the normal characteristics are more performance based. Having said that there is some performance based ideas but there is none of the normal characteristics that you will normally find.

CAMERA SHOTS

There are a lot of birds eye view shots that set the scene and explain where the story is set, mid shots of with inside the bank where there are hostage situations and general chaos, close ups of characters faces to show the different emotions of different characters and extreme close ups to show the intricate details to assist the narrative (close ups of bank vault doors, weapons etc.). Within all of these shots there is a huge use of mise en scene to simply represent crime. The mise en scene involved is the use of hammers, duffel bags (clearly being used to transport money), police cars, expensive cars, black hoodies etc.
