To young men

contemplating

a voyage I would

say 'go'.

Do you have dreams to make it big in life? Do you want to

become a leader and change the world? If yes, have you

made up your mind? Or are you still contemplating?

Take a decision today to enrol for an MBA program and

prepare for setting sail in the corporate world. We, at

National School of Business, will prepare you for the

rough seas of the corporate world with our robust MBA

program.

Dr. Sridhara MurthyPresident

We started with a simple vision - Make management education better.

Let me confess and be honest with you. We didn't

start National School of Business with lofty goals

and promises. The vision was simple; make

management education better. At that time, there

were many business schools - too many 'me too'

players. The situation has not changed much even

to this day.

We started working towards the goal of making our

management education better. We undertook a

thorough review of the curriculum offered, made

changes where necessary and added several

innovative features to it. As a result, we succeeded

in creating a robust program, which was

conceptually intensive, industry relevant, global in

character and stood out from the crowd.

We spoke to some of the best management

professors in the business; both at the national and

international level, explained our vision, and

requested them to be part of our core faculty team.

Many of the management academicians we spoke

to, obliged to our request. Thus, we put in place a

strong faculty team.

We forged alliances with some of the best

universities in India and abroad for awarding

degrees and creating a forum for exchanging ideas

and increasing the learning opportunities for our

students. Our efforts bore fruit and enhanced the

strength of the curriculum by several notches and

created a credible niche for ourselves in the

industry.

Our well -oi led placement cel l f i tt ingly

complemented our academic strengths. Our

emphasis on pre-placement training, skill and

knowledge enhancement through additional

certification courses and placement processes

ensured that our students landed plum jobs, year

after year.

As a result of our efforts, we became a serious player

in management education and industry

acknowledged our presence. Our rankings and

ratings improved and we were counted among the

top ranking institutions.

In spite of our solid performance over the years in

every department, we haven't forgotten the vision

with which we started National School of Business -

make management education better. Every day,

this vision spurs us to continuously improve the

quality of our MBA program and give aspiring

MBAs the best management education possible.

In business projects, students act as consultants to

solve real-time business problems in an

organization. Unlike in internships, students in

business projects are required to have good

business acumen and skills in consulting,

analytical and research skills. Students work for

about 8-10 weeks that culminates in a final

presentation. It’s the best credential a student

seeking employment can have.

motivational talks by experts and

DISHA-Entrepreneurship Cell

Grooming Entrepreneurs

36

NSB believes in India's entrepreneurial and startup

potential and extends its support to you for your

entrepreneurial ventures.

The School's Entrepreneurship Cell “DISHA” aims

to help in the development of India 's

entrepreneurial ecosystem by enabling easy and

efficient interaction among its major components

spanning students, working professionals, aspiring

and existing entrepreneurs, mentors, angel

investors, venture capital firms and corporates

through initiatives such as interactive sessions,

conferences, etc. The cell nurtures and nourishes

entrepreneurship ideas in you. The faculty

members help you in identifying market

opportunities, screening ideas and developing

viable business models. They also bring you in

contact with venture capitalists and help you in

seeking venture capital funding.

The entrepreneurship cell is run completely by

students under the strict vigilance of a team of

faculty that has been exclusively trained for the

purpose by National Entrepreneurship Network

(NEN).

“The pessimist complaints

about the wind. The

optimist expects it to

change. The leader

adjusts the sail.”

At NSB, we believe in preparing leaders who are

capable of changing their leadership styles

according to the business environment and tread

the path they believe in without complaining.

- John Maxwell

37

The concept of social media club today is quite

different from what it was a few years ago. Social

media today is not just about updating status or

posting pictures from a party held on the previous

night. Instead it is changing the way we search for

jobs, communicate, learn, share and do business.

There is an imperative need today to include the

social media in the framework of higher education

because it is literally changing the world. The Social

The Social Media Club at National School of

Business was formed to facilitate interaction among

members to explore key issues facing the society as

technologies transform the way people connect,

communicate, collaborate and relate to each other.

The club enables you to explore your personal and

professional passions by helping you to connect with

a community of peers based on both geography and

areas of interest.

Social Media Club

Look. Listen. Join. Learn. Lead.

38

The club was started by a few ardent movie

enthusiasts with the aim of exposing NSBians to

insightful movies. The club screens a movie every

weekend.

The Movie Club of NSB has occupied a special

place in every

student's heart.

Its popularity

can be testified

by the fact that it

has more

members than

any other club.

The club prints

the ticket for

every movie

premiere and

generates

revenue. It also

sells some snacks

and soft drinks.

Thanks to the Movie Club, the NSB students are

becoming adept with the technicalities of cinema

too.

The Club is an attempt to make learning process

'student centric'.

Dan Wolman inaugurates

NSB Movie Club

National School of Business had the rare privilege

of having its Movie Club inaugurated by

acclaimed Israeli film director Dan Wolman. Born

in 1941 in Jerusalem, Wolman studied film at

Film Institute of City College- New York and in

the New York University Film Department. He

taught at the School of Visual Arts in New York.

He has been a judge at several international and

Israeli film festivals.

Movie Club

39

The primary objective of the club is to foster literary

activities such as poetry, writing and reading

among the students of the school.

Literature helps us understand the world better

and improve our communication skills. Literature

is refined communication. This communication is

done through characters created by the writers or

by the writers themselves. It provides us a treasure

trove of insights into others' feelings, thinking and

emotions.

Every year, the club plans and conducts several

events and programmes such as book and poetry

reading, arranging interaction with authors, story

writing, poetry competitions, etc.

The literary achievements of a few of NSB students

are positive reflections on the profile of its students.

While NSB student Swatikumari Mahesh has

written 'Without A Goodbye', another student

Pradeep Bheema has penned 'Students – Solutions

to Youth Depending Entirely on the Students'.

He who loves practice without

theory is like the sailor who

boards ship without a rudder

and compass and never knows

where he may cast. - Leonardo Da Vinci

Why does one require theoretical foundation? Isn't practical

experience sufficient?

At NSB, besides improving your practical skills, we lay equal

emphasis on theory because at the work place, an individual needs

both knowledge and skills to effectively deal with realities around

him. Theory and practical experience complement each other.

Placements

Success comes to those who prepare well and put in

effort. For us, placement is not an activity that

begins in the third semester. We have a

comprehensive plan in place and our pre-placement

training takes place concurrently with the course.

Our placement preparation includes sharpening

your communication, presentation, aptitude and

attitudinal skills. We will also train you in group

discussions, mock interviews, and interview FAQs.

We ensure that, when the opportunity knocks on

your door, you will be in a position to grab it with

both hands.

Why career planning is something we don't

leave for the final week

The MBA program you choose should share your

career goals. Our mandate at National School of

Business has never been just to prepare you for your

first post- MBA job and be done with it. Rather, we

want to give you the tools to create and navigate

opportunities successfully throughout your career.

Our Corporate Relations Cell (CRC) is looked upon

with high regards across the globe by our

prestigious recruiting partners, and they're

involved from the very beginning. In fact, your early

career path exploration starts during the admission

process, when our CRC team participates in your

application assessment.

Pre-placement training and career coaching is built

right into the curriculum. Class time is devoted to

the skills required to build a solid Résumé, prepare

for rigorous interviews, find hidden career

opportunities, network effectively and plan your

career strategy. We don't hand out jobs. Instead we

provide access to exceptional coaching and

knowledge you can use to launch and accelerate

your career path. The NSB MBA opens doors to an

unlimited range of challenging leadership

opportunities. The CRC coaching gives you the

insight and career savvy you need to fully capitalize

on them.

Your PLACEMENT PLANNING begins from day one.

Other MBA programs ask you to sit back and be

taught. At National School of Business, you lean

forward and actively learn. You will be among some

of the most interesting and talented people you will

encounter in your life.
