THE GREATEST COMMANDMENTS

One of them, a lawyer, asked Him a question, testing Him, “Teacher, which is the great commandment in the Law?” And He said to him, “‘YOU SHALL LOVE YHWH YOUR GOD

WITH ALL YOUR HEART, AND WITH ALL YOUR SOUL, AND WITH ALL YOUR

MIND.’ This is the great and foremost commandment. The second is like it, ‘YOU SHALL LOVE YOUR NEIGHBOR AS YOURSELF.’ On these two commandments depend the whole Law and the Prophets.” (Matthew 22:35-40)

One of the scribes came and heard them arguing, and recognizing that He had answered them well, asked Him, “What commandment is the foremost of all?” Yeshuaanswered, “The foremost is, ‘HEAR, O ISRAEL! YHWH IS OUR GOD, YHWH IS ONE; AND YOU SHALL LOVE YHWH YOUR GOD WITH ALL YOUR

HEART, AND WITH ALL YOUR SOUL, AND WITH ALL YOUR MIND, AND WITH ALL

YOUR STRENGTH.’ The second is this, ‘YOU SHALL LOVE YOUR NEIGHBOR

AS YOURSELF.’ There is no other commandment greater than these.” (Mark 12:28-31)

You shall not take vengeance, nor bear any grudge against the sons of your people, but you shall love your neighbor as yourself; I am YHWH. (Lev 19:18)

Then David’s anger burned greatly against the man, and he said to Nathan, “As YHWH lives, surely the man who has done this deserves to die. He must make restitution for the lamb fourfold, because he did this thing and had no compassion.”

Nathan then said to David, “YOU are the man.”

THE SABBATH

And it happened that He was passing through the grain fields on the

Sabbath, and his disciples began to make their way along

while picking the heads of grain. The Pharisees were saying to him,

“Look, why are they doing what is not lawful on the Sabbath?” And he

said to them, “Have you never read what David did when he was in

need and he and his companions became hungry; how he entered

the house of God in the time of Abiathar the high priest, and ate

the consecrated bread, which is not lawful for anyone to eat except

the priests, and he also gave it to those who were with him?” Yeshua

said to them, “The Sabbath was made for man, and not man for the

Sabbath. So the Son of Man is Lord even of the Sabbath.” (Mark 2:23-

YESHUA AND THE SABBATH

Yeshua said to him, “The foxes have holes and the birds of the air have nests, but the Son of Man has nowhere to lay His head.” (Mat 8:20)

As he passed by, he saw a man blind from birth … When he had said this, he spat on the ground, and made clay of the spittle, and applied the clay to his eyes, and said to him, “Go, wash in the pool of Siloam” (which is translated, Sent). And there was a woman who for eighteen years had had a sickness caused by a spirit; and she was bent double, and could not straighten up at all. When Yeshua saw her, he called her over and said to her, “Woman, you are freed from your sickness.” (Luke 13:11-12)

TO REST FROM OUR LABOR

TO REMEMBER THAT THE WORLD WAS CREATED IN SIX DAYS, AND ON THE SEVENTH YHWH RESTED FROM HIS CREATIVE WORK

TO REMEMBER THAT WE WERE SLAVES IN EGYPT AND WERE RELEASED FROM BONDAGE

BY EXTENSION, SLAVES TO SIN IN THIS WORLD AND RELEASED FROM BONDAGE

A SIGN BETWEEN US AND YHWH THAT HE IS OUR GOD AND WE ARE HIS PEOPLE

A SIGN OF THE BOUNTY TO COME WHEN WE RECEIVE THE INHERITANCE AND CAN ENJOY THE FRUIT OF OUR LABORS
