let s elebrate our luck of the irish
TRANSCRIPT
Dear Members, Many exciting changes are planned for Pullman Senior Citizen Association this year. 2020 means perfect vision, so we hope this year will be truly visionary. One of many changes your Board of Directors is working on is the move to our new quarters later this month.
The another change was payment of annual dues. To simplify record-keeping, the Board voted to collect dues during the month of January. Announcements were made at lunches and in previous newsletters.
Costs to produce and mail this newsletter have been rising. If you haven’t paid your 2020 dues, please make your check out to “PSCA.” You can pay at the Senior Center, or mail your check to Pullman Senior Center, 325 SE Paradise, Pullman, WA, 99163. Dues are $15 per person or $25 per couple. We must discontinue sending newsletters to members who have not paid.

A Note one of the members asked us to share.
I have made many decisions in my lifetime but, becoming a member of, the Pullman Senior Association is among my top-ranked choices. As a southern, and in my home state of Mississippi, I know of no organizations that offer its’ seniors any forms of social engagement. Since becoming a member of the association, I am in awe of the range of activities available through the Association. I believe that it is critical as we mature to keep the body and mind engaged in what life has to offer. The aging process is challenging, and there are days we may not feel like being around others; for that matter, there are times I have trouble getting out of bed, holding a cup, or turning over in bed, nonetheless. I cannot tell you the joy it brings me to share a few hours playing Pinochle with Mr. Merrill, Ms. Tina, and Mr. Link. I am grateful to be able to partake in the sharing of bread, to do so is a powerful act of human kindness and wonder for the mind and spirit.
The Sweetheart Dance was awesome, the music and fellowship made for an exceptional evening. I think, it was my first valentine dance since high school some 50 years ago. We danced, laugh and had “plenty” to eat and drink. Thank you, Mr. Link, for the dance, Ms. Tina you are swell and, we love you much. David and Vickie, I admire you two, always ready to help with the Association affairs, a love of community. As humans, we cannot always play “catch” the ball, we must throw a ball back into the worlds. As a Pullman Senior Association member, I eagerly await the next adventure. We were having the best time of lives.
The recent trip to Moscow was to see the world-renowned Gershwin’s Opera Porgy and Bess. This opera is a sensitive portrayal of the lives and struggles of a segregated Africa American community in Charleston, S. C, an reflects black life in the southern United States. Maya Angelou, as a young dancer in 1955, performed the role of Bess in a touring production at the Teatro Alla Scala in Milan. Members who missed Gershwin's Porgy and Bess, This musical is written in the vernacular or colloquial language of the time and place, depicts black life in 1930, South Carolina, along "Catfish Row" and represents the form of native language and dialect spoken by the people who lived there.
I am looking forward to the upcoming Irish Feast, March 11. Vickie and her team members are hard at work planning this event. Let us not delay and sign up to come and fellowship with friends while eating great food. Finally, as the great Jerry Lee Lewis sings, “Great Balls of Fire", a whole lot of shakin goin on" because Ms. Monica has much planned, weekend trips, wine tasting, international trips, and heaven knows what she has under her sleeve.
Ms. Terry Buffington
