CREATIVE COURSE - LESSONS LEARNT
The course taught me that ideas are not as spontaneous as they seem to be and that with limited
structure ideas can be extracted from “thin air”. The concept of “reframing” a problem enabled me to
isolate problems and analyze the issues through an “environmental scan” that accessed areas in my
“blind spots” that I may have missed. The normal barriers of resources, habitat and culture are
circumnavigated and creative juices were able to flow freely, much akin to the concept of “first with the
head, then with the hearth”. The 6-hats were another very useful tool for distracting me from focusing
on the barriers – a great lesson in general communication skills too! The exposure to mind maps is yet
another tool I have added to my management toolkit as this is a practical solution to collecting many
diverse ideas. I have integrated these ideas into my project work as a practical innovation to our
organization.
The course can be summarized in the following six word sentence:
Ingenious creative ideas optimize life's opportunities!
