Content Standard:2.2 By the end of the 6-year primary schooling, pupils will be able to demonstrate understanding of a variety of linear and non-linear texts in the form of print and non-print materials using a range of strategies to construct meaning.

Learning Standard (s): 2.2.2 Able to read and understand phrases and sentences in linear and non-linear texts. Language focus: Vocabulary (Nouns)Behavioural objectives: By the end of the lesson, pupils should be able to:1) Classify different types of cooking style of the seafood listed on the board.2) Answer 5 out of 6 multiple choice questions and comprehension questions correctly based on the non-linear text (menu) provided in the task sheet.3) Work in groups and differentiate seafood and non-seafood in the correct section provided.

Previous knowledge: Pupils are familiar with food and the name of sea creatures.

Instructional materials:Picture cards, menu, task sheets, word strips, paper plates.

Different kind of Style of cooking seafood:1. Curry Fish, crab, prawn, squid2. Fried fish, squid.3. Grilled prawn, crab.4. Chilli/sambal prawn, squid, crab 1. Teacher asks pupils whether they know any kind of style of cooking the seafood.2. Teacher draws table on the board that differentiate different style of cooking seafood.3. Teacher randomly paste pictures of different kind of cooking style of the seafood. 4. Teacher writes down the name of the seafood.5. Teacher reads the phrases, pupils repeat after the teacher. 6. Teacher calls out some pupils to classify and paste the picture cards into its own classes (different kind of style of cooking). To familiarize the pupils with the vocabulary in the non-linear text.

To give meanings to the words easily by showing pictures.

To check pupils understanding.

While-reading(20 minutes)1. MCQ. 2. Comprehension questions.

1. Teacher provides menu to each pupil. 2. Teacher explains about the features of the menu such as the name of the restaurant, the name of the food and the price. 3. Teacher distributes task sheets to each pupil. 4. Pupils complete the task sheet by answering multiple choice questions with teachers guidance.

1. Teacher divides pupils to work in groups.2. Teacher gives instructions first.3. Teacher distributes envelopes contain word strips that have many types of food written on it. 4. Pupils have to differentiate the food into two kinds of different classes seafood and non-seafood. 5. Pupils have to paste it on the paper plate provided. 6. After they have done, they have to share it to the whole class. To engage communication between pupils and pupils.
